Macht

Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Maury Macht was a Member of Parliament and Dwayne Dantès's neighbor at 39 Böklund Street. He welcomed the newly arrived tycoon into the district's social circle, hosting visits, dances, dinners, and political conversations. His concerns included colonial policy, pollution, veterans, and the practical work of the House of Commons, while his friendship with Dwayne also supported charitable and investment initiatives (Chapters 753–886).

Macht's greatest personal pressure came through his daughter Hazel's secret involvement with mysticism. He was proud of her education and independence but had no understanding of the danger beneath their home. When Amon's avatars invaded the household and made family and servants wear monocles, Macht was a victim of supernatural control rather than a participant in it. Afterward, the family survived with memories treated and obscured. During the war, he continued to act as a responsible head of household and planned to move his family toward the safer West Borough, remaining alive at his latest appearance (Chapters 981–1008, 1087).

Appearance and personality

Macht is a classic Loenese gentleman in his forties, with black hair, brown eyes, a deep facial outline, and a receding hairline. His face is somewhat long. He is sociable, civic-minded, practical, and comfortable using political status without being reduced to it. With Hazel he combines paternal pride with the blind spots of a parent who assumes that a privileged home is secure (Chapters 753, 759–886).

Pathways and abilities

Macht is an ordinary human with no confirmed pathway or supernatural ability. The monocles and abnormal behavior during Amon's incursion resulted from external parasitism or control and must not be treated as Macht's own powers (Chapters 1003–1008).
