Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Luke Sammer lived beside Sherlock Moriarty with his wife, Stelyn, and built a comfortable middle-class life through business. As Coim Company’s first manager and a member of the Soot Reduction Association, he supported Mary’s pollution campaign and used his professional and social contacts to help connect reformers with officials. The Sammners’ parties and neighborly invitations also helped Sherlock enter Backlund’s respectable professional circles (Chapters 215–358)

Luke continued managing Coim Company and later met Dwayne Dantès through Mary. During the war, his household’s security collapsed with the wider food shortage: he and Stelyn separately returned home without provisions despite their former comfort. The corpus leaves Luke alive with his wife, enduring the crisis as an ordinary civilian rather than receiving a special escape from it (Chapters 430, 798, 1084, 1239)

Appearance and personality

Luke dresses carefully for business and social occasions and projects the respectable bearing of a successful manager. He is sociable, practical, environmentally concerned, and comfortable speaking with influential professionals. Much of the household’s visible social energy comes from Stelyn, while Luke concentrates on business conversations and civic networks.
