Liv

Liv was an impoverished East Borough laundry worker and the mother of Freja and Daisy. Her determination to recover Daisy and educate both daughters offered them a fragile hope of escaping poverty before the Great Smog of Backlund killed her and Freja. (Chapters 372–378 and 481–482)

Biography

Life in Klein's Era

After Daisy was kidnapped by Capim's organization, Liv continued surviving through exhausting laundry work while Freja searched for help. Klein Moretti and Old Kohler brought Daisy home, and Liv's relief and gratitude restored the family after a crime they had little power to oppose. (Chapters 372–378)

Liv wanted her daughters to learn to read and acquire the education needed to change their fate. That effort ended in the Great Smog: Klein later found Liv and Freja dead together and used divination to locate their graves, leaving Daisy as the family's survivor. (Chapters 378 and 481–482)

Appearance and personality

Liv's worn condition reflected years of low-paid physical labor and East Borough deprivation. She was protective, grateful to those who rescued Daisy, and ambitious for her daughters in the practical sense of wanting literacy to open a life beyond laundry work. (Chapters 372–378)

Pathways and abilities

Liv was an ordinary human with no pathway, Sequence, boon, or supernatural ability. She had no means of resisting either Capim's criminal network or the mass supernatural disaster that became the Great Smog. (Chapters 372–378 and 481)

Relationships

Freja and Daisy were Liv's daughters and the center of her decisions. Klein and Old Kohler became benefactors of the household by returning Daisy, while Liv and Freja remained together through their deaths. (Chapters 372–378 and 481–482)
