Life in Klein's Era

Lawrence Nord was an elderly public-school teacher and one of the surviving Abraham elders after Botis’s betrayal devastated the family. He left the demoralized council to find his brothers, only to learn from Fors that Laubero and Aulisa were dead and childless. Suspecting Fors had inherited their mystical legacy, Lawrence investigated cautiously, then concluded from her conduct that she was trustworthy rather than an enemy to be stripped of it (Chapters 373–394)

Already injured, aged, and endangered by the Abraham curse, Lawrence collapsed after visiting the family graves. He entrusted Fors with his notebook, characteristic, and a request to find Dorian Gray, deliberately sending her out of the room before stopping his own heart so he would die human rather than lose control. Fors honored the will, and Dorian later visited Lawrence’s grave and accepted the connection he had created (Chapters 403–409, 431, 646)

Appearance and personality

Lawrence is a nearly eighty-year-old man whose age, injuries, and grief leave him visibly frail. He is reflective, cautious, proud of the Abraham legacy, and deeply tired of watching his family disappear. Even in despair he judges Fors by her kindness and arranges his death to protect her from a possible monster.

Lawrence is an Apprentice-pathway Beyonder whose diamond-like characteristic and divination concerns support his identification as a Sequence 7 Astrologer. He can use spirit-world movement, ritual magic, astrology, and divination, but old injuries and the Abraham full-moon curse make further power use dangerously likely to trigger loss of control.
