Kaspars
Biography
Life in Klein's Era
Kaspars Kalinin operated from Bravehearts Bar as a discreet gatekeeper to Backlund's criminal and Beyonder underground. Ian's recommendation brought Sherlock Moriarty to him, and Kaspars responded to the correct introduction by arranging access to Maric, Sharron, weapons, and the Eye of Wisdom's gathering. His value lay in judging who could safely meet whom without exposing every participant (Chapters 225–248)
Sherlock returned repeatedly for ammunition, commissions, bodyguard contacts, and gathering access. Kaspars maintained the relationship because Sherlock paid, respected procedure, and proved capable of surviving the people behind the introductions. Kaspars remained alive and active at the bar after those transactions (Chapters 256–345, 433)
Appearance and personality
Kaspars is an older, weathered man with a damaged leg and the guarded manner of someone long involved in dangerous trades. He is cautious, practical, and suspicious of strangers, yet reliable once a trusted introduction and price are established. He avoids grand ideals and expresses assistance through contacts, rooms, and equipment (Chapters 225–248)
Pathways and abilities
No potion, Sequence, or supernatural ability is confirmed for Kaspars. He knows firearms, criminal etiquette, secret gathering procedures, and the identities of dangerous intermediaries. Access to Beyonders does not itself make him one (Chapters 225–345)
