Ive is the frugal owner of Auberge du Coq Doré, remembered by its poor tenants as a comparatively lenient landlord so long as rent is paid. Much of the later “Ive” activity is actually Rentas impersonating him. (Chapters 1545 and 1588–1590)

Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse

Ive rarely appeared at his lodging, but when Lumian Lee met him, his evasive reaction to Room 504 and his nightly connection to Théâtre de l’Ancienne Cage à Pigeons drew suspicion. Lumian tracked “Ive” through a prophecy and a gold-coin trap, believing he had exposed a miserly cultist tied to Susanna Mattise. (Chapters 1584–1594 and 1624–1627)

The investigation later proved that the cultist was Rentas, an Actor who had copied Ive’s face, eyes, and habits. After the imposter died and Franca channeled his spirit, the group concluded that the real Ive was one of the people still missing; the supplied corpus never confirms his rescue or death. (Chapters 1638–1650 and 1656)

Appearance and personality

The real Ive is described through his familiar landlord persona as a slender man in his fifties with blond hair and blue eyes, notably miserly and fond of money. He nevertheless tolerates struggling tenants who keep up with rent; later sinister mannerisms cannot safely be attributed to him because Rentas was performing the role.
