Biography
Life in Klein's Era
Isengard Stanton studied in Lenburg for four years, became a believer of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, and entered the Reader pathway. Back in Backlund, he built a celebrated detective practice while maintaining careful relations with the military and several orthodox Churches. Because openly preaching his faith could make the Church of Storms treat him as a heretic, he worked through an informal circle of detectives and unaffiliated Beyonders rather than founding a public organization (Chapters 157, 414).
His network brought him into the serial-killing investigation alongside Sherlock Moriarty and Kaslana. The Desire Apostle attacked him directly and later exploited the group's emotions, severely injuring Isengard's back. Isengard chose to act helpless, used a healing ring at the decisive moment, and helped force the killer to flee until official Beyonders could intervene. After the case, he continued supporting investigations and offered Sherlock both praise and a route into the Church of Knowledge and Wisdom. He remained alive and available as one of Klein's trusted Backlund contacts (Chapters 412–438, 481–847).
Appearance and personality
Isengard is an older, thin-faced man with gray at his temples. He dresses neatly in a white shirt, black vest or coat, and hunter's hat, and his posture can seem relaxed even while he is analyzing a threat. He is rational, patient, authoritative among younger detectives, and quietly courageous. His willingness to bait a Desire Apostle shows that his genial mentor's manner does not exclude calculated risk (Chapters 157, 414–420).
Pathways and abilities
Isengard is a Sequence 7 Detective of the Reader pathway. He demonstrates exceptional observation, reconstruction, deduction, broad learning, and an ability to derive habits from fragmentary records. He had not advanced to Sequence 6 Polymath because he did not trust his readiness for the potion's danger. A healing effect used in battle came from his ring, not from the Detective Sequence itself (Chapters 157, 414–418).
