Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Ikanser Bernard was a senior Machinery Hivemind deacon entrusted with Arrodes, a powerful and humiliatingly inquisitive Sealed Artifact. He repeatedly accepted its personal questions and lightning penalties because its answers could solve cases that ordinary investigation could not. During the Desire Apostle case, he inspected Sherlock Moriarty's home, listened seriously to Sherlock's objections, and revised the hunt when evidence suggested the officials had been deceived (Chapters 351, 416–429)

Ikanser later coordinated the Machinery Hivemind's heavily armed exploration of the Amon-family tomb and participated in internal reviews of Sherlock's actions. His willingness to endure Arrodes's punishments made him the subject of jokes, but it also kept colleagues alive and investigations moving.
