Heraberg

Heraberg is the elderly theological official who manages Morora's exiles and teaches them the knowledge needed to approach the dangerous Sealed Artifact 0-01. He is eventually revealed to be a persona of Herabergen, the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, with Morora itself contained inside his body.

Biography

Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse

Heraberg receives the newly exiled prisoners in Morora, registers them, removes their shackles, and explains the settlement's rules. When Lumian Lee seeks knowledge about the underground seal, Heraberg makes study and examination the price of access. Lumian's perfect results lead him to replace the planned curriculum with harder material, reflecting both his preference for capable candidates and his conviction that knowledge is a practical source of power. (Chapters 2225, 2236, 2244, 2256)

He later supplies Lumian with earplugs and a brass talisman that narrate selected texts, personally drawing words and glimmers from books and molding the metal. During the catastrophe around 0-01 he remains at the cathedral, protects its interior, and afterward gives the survivors a route out while warning them about the spreading plague. The effort visibly ages his Morora form, showing that even his apparently effortless instruction and protection have a cost within that manifestation. (Chapters 2258, 2272–2274)

Heraberg finally discloses that he is Herabergen and that Morora and its surrounding mountains exist inside his stomach. He admits that he favored Lumian as a contender for 0-01 because Lumian was calm and willing to learn, but rejects any heroic account of his own motives: he wants to live and continue pursuing knowledge, and would not surrender his present existence voluntarily without being forced to choose. (Chapter 2560)

Appearance and personality

In Morora, Heraberg appears as an old man with graying hair, amber eyes, a kind expression, and a white robe embroidered with brass thread. His movements can seem slightly puppet-like. He is patient and dryly encouraging with serious students, but also exacting, pragmatic, and candid about self-preservation. (Chapters 2225, 2244, 2560)

Pathways and abilities

Heraberg is a manifestation of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, the White Tower pathway's Sequence 0. He demonstrates immense containment power by holding Morora within himself, prophetic knowledge concerning Lumian's future, direct extraction and transmission of information from books, metal shaping, and protective mystical arts. His reduced Morora persona can nevertheless be strained by sustaining protection during a major disaster. (Chapters 2258, 2272–2274, 2560)

Relationships

Heraberg treats Lumian as both a student and a deliberately cultivated candidate for 0-01, rewarding his discipline while warning him against reckless overreach. His dealings with Morora's other exiles remain administrative: he gives them rules and opportunities, but does not disguise that they are participants in a dangerous experiment. (Chapters 2225, 2236, 2256, 2560)

Items

Heraberg creates a brass talisman and matching earplugs that turn written material into an audible lesson for Lumian. The set is a teaching aid he gives away rather than a named personal artifact. (Chapter 2258)
