Glacis

Biography

Life in Klein's Era

Glacis joined Tingen’s Divination Club as a tarot specialist charging two pence per reading. He befriended Klein through their shared interests and accepted a divination warning that his lung illness required treatment. After a serious episode, Glacis sought the apothecary Lawson Darkwade and recovered, then openly credited Klein’s observation and the medicine rather than dismissing what had saved him (Chapters 38–54)

Grateful for the warning, Glacis recommended Klein to clients and left instructions with Angelica to direct suitable visitors toward him. Information about Glacis’s treatment also led Klein to Darkwade’s herb store, expanding the Nighthawks’ awareness of Tingen’s hidden mystical community. Glacis remained alive and active at the club in his latest appearance (Chapters 56–115)

Appearance and personality

Glacis wears a formal suit, black bow tie, monocle, and silk top hat. He is courteous, sociable, earnest about divination, and willing to acknowledge another practitioner’s superior insight. His gratitude becomes practical support rather than exaggerated devotion.

Pathways and abilities

Glacis is an ordinary human and amateur diviner, not a confirmed Beyonder. He knows tarot methods and club techniques, but his readings lack the enhanced spirituality and reliable danger sense of a Seer. His recovery comes from an apothecary’s medicine, not a power of his own.
