Devajo

Biography

Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse

Devajo was identified as the uncle and intended contact of Bram, a member of the Andariel Devil family gathering intelligence in Port Pylos. He later arrived in Tizamo with a female companion and remained lucid during the Dream Festival, indicating that the pair were operatives connected to a Nois family Demon and the black ancient tomb rather than ordinary visitors (Chapters 2072–2119)

At the tomb, Devajo shed a human-skin disguise, created a green-eyed duplicate from sulfurous blood, and transformed into a colossal Devil during the ensuing conflict. Badly injured by Lumian's Symphony of Hatred, he abandoned revenge and fled, only to encounter Ludwig. An influence from the tomb made his body rapidly decay; white feathers then grew from his remains, and the reanimated form flew into the black ancient tomb. The corpus does not establish whether a distinct Devajo survived that transformation (Chapters 2120–2124)

Appearance and personality

Devajo initially wears a dark-gray suit and uses an assumed appearance. Beneath it he is a cold-faced, high-cheekboned man in his thirties or forties with black hair and brown eyes. He is cautious enough to retreat from unexplained anomalies and pragmatic enough to abandon vengeance when faced with overwhelming danger.

Pathways and abilities

Devajo is a high-ranking Devil-pathway Beyonder who assumes a nearly three-meter Devil form with goat horns and bat wings. He has acute malice perception, sulfurous blood, blue flames, disguise through embroidered human skin, and the ability to form a blood-and-flesh duplicate. His white-feathered reanimation and entry into the tomb came from an external Death-related phenomenon, not a demonstrated Devil ability.

Relationships

  • Bram: Nephew and intended Port Pylos contact whom Devajo never actually met there.
  • Unnamed companion: Fellow Tizamo operative whose transformation opened the ancient tomb.
  • Lumian Lee: Opponent whose attack gravely injured Devajo and prompted his flight.
  • Ludwig: Pursuer whose hunger terrified Devajo immediately before the tomb's influence overtook him.

Items

  • Embroidered human skin: Disguise that could be removed and animated into a green-eyed blood duplicate.
  • Dark-gray suit: Part of Devajo's assumed identity rather than a separate mystical item.
