Bella

Biography

Encounters Across Both Eras

The first Bella was a young Evernight believer hired as the Moretti household’s maid in Tingen. Eager to double her wages by becoming a home chef, she learned the family’s routines, proposed recipes from her own working-class home, and supported Benson, Melissa, and Klein through ordinary domestic work. She was still serving the household in her last appearance; nothing connects her to the later woman who shares her name (Chapters 162–263)

The second Bella was a Sequence 6 Artisan of the Moses Ascetic Order whom Jenna coerced after the Order’s defeat. Bella agreed to train Julien, guide him through the Savant and Appraiser Sequences, convert to an orthodox god, and avoid harming him in exchange for eventual freedom. What began under threat developed into a genuine bond: by the end of the corpus, Bella was free of her former worries, had married Julien, and settled with him in Suhit. She is not the Tingen maid and has no demonstrated connection to the Moretti family (Chapters 2508–2509, 2558, 2611)

Appearance and personality

The Tingen Bella is a willing, teachable young servant from a factory-and-laundry-worker family; the corpus gives few distinctive physical details. The Trier Bella has short hair, soft features, beautiful eyes, and wears workshop goggles. She is an exacting but encouraging teacher, initially terrified and submissive under Jenna’s control, and later calm and genuinely invested in Julien’s future.

Pathways and abilities

The Tingen Bella is an ordinary human with no supernatural powers. The Trier Bella is a Sequence 6 Artisan of the Paragon pathway, capable of near-perfect mechanical assembly, appraisal, design, repair, and supernatural craftsmanship. Her instruction can make difficult techniques intelligible, but some of Julien’s rapid progress is deliberately staged to support Jenna’s plan.
