Annie
Biography
Life in Klein's Era
Annie serves Audrey Hall as her personal lady's maid, managing the steady practical work around a noblewoman's life. She carries invitations and news, enters Audrey's rooms on household business, supervises other servants, and accompanies both Audrey and Susie without intruding on matters she is not meant to understand. Her discretion allows Audrey to preserve an ordinary social identity while secretly acting as a Beyonder and Tarot Club member. (Chapters 8, 293, 613, 859)
As danger closes around the Hall family, Audrey orders Annie and Susie to take shelter at Saint Samuel Cathedral. During the war and Backlund's shortages, Annie is frightened of going into the streets but still follows Audrey into relief work and the cathedral's refuge. She survives the crises around the family, remaining at Audrey's side even when supernatural effects prevent her from noticing extraordinary visitors. (Chapters 1084, 1210, 1211, 1363)
Appearance and personality
The corpus does not establish distinctive physical features for Annie. Her behavior presents her as orderly, attentive, loyal, and properly discreet. She voices fear when the city becomes dangerous rather than displaying implausible bravery, but continues to perform her duties and follow Audrey's lead. [Chapter 293] [Chapter 1210]
Pathways and abilities
Annie is an ordinary human with no established pathway or supernatural abilities. Her practical skills are those of an experienced personal maid: scheduling, delivering messages, coordinating servants, maintaining decorum, and supporting her employer under pressure. Supernatural concealment can affect her normally, emphasizing that she is not secretly a trained Beyonder. [Chapter 613] [Chapter 1363]
Relationships
Audrey is Annie's employer and the center of her professional loyalty. Annie also regularly deals with Susie as part of Audrey's household, without knowing the full extent of the dog's intelligence or occult role. Her place in the Hall household gives Audrey a stable human connection to ordinary responsibilities throughout her increasingly secretive life. [Chapter 8] [Chapter 859] [Chapter 1084]
Items
Annie handles invitations, letters, clothing, and other ordinary household materials on Audrey's behalf. None are established as her personal mystical items. [Chapter 293] [Chapter 613]
