Aiur Harson
Aiur Harson is a Backlund Nighthawk who escorts Sealed Artifact 2-049 to Tingen and helps capture Ray Bieber. He is distinct from Aiur Moria, the Red Light of the spirit world mentioned much later in the corpus.
Biography
Life in Klein's Era
Aiur arrives from Backlund with Lorotta to deliver 2-049 and take command of the operation against Antigonus descendant Ray Bieber. He explains the artifact's danger, maintains procedures as its immobilizing influence repeatedly advances, and joins Dunn's team in the underground pursuit. Although Nightmare Beyonders are not ideal direct fighters, he steadies himself, uses mental influence during the clash, survives injury, and helps secure the notebook and artifact for return to Backlund. (Chapters 71–80)
Aiur later participates in the investigation of Lanevus. He follows the tip trail far enough to determine that one supposed connection was a bounty hunter's revenge rather than evidence tying the informer to murder, and reports the distinction instead of forcing the facts to fit the hunt. He remains alive after that assignment. Much later references to “Aiur” as a Red Light concern Aiur Moria and do not describe Harson. (Chapters 289, 921, 926, 1270–1271)
Appearance and personality
Aiur is a charming, handsome middle-aged man with wrinkles around his eyes and a gray trench coat. He is composed, procedural, and willing to correct an investigative theory when evidence contradicts it, while retaining enough caution to respect the artifacts he handles. (Chapters 71–76, 289)
Pathways and abilities
Aiur is a Sequence 7 Nightmare of the Sleepless pathway. He can influence sleep and dreams and hinder enemies through mental effects, supplemented by Nighthawk firearms, ritual, and field training. His pathway specializes more in indirect control than direct physical combat, a limitation Klein explicitly notes during the Bieber operation. (Chapters 73–76)
Relationships
Dunn Smith is Aiur's Tingen counterpart at the same Sequence during the joint operation. Lorotta is his Backlund teammate and fellow custodian of 2-049, while Klein begins as a junior local member whom Aiur briefs and protects through procedure. (Chapters 71–80)
Items
Aiur temporarily transports and guards Sealed Artifact 2-049, whose effects demand constant monitoring and movement. It belongs to the Church rather than to him personally; his other equipment is standard Nighthawk gear. (Chapters 71–80)
