Zhong Qing

Biography

Examiner of the disguised candidate

Zhong Qing announces and administers the examination, evaluating candidates through the scholarly and martial standards of the Hundred Schools of Philosophers. He becomes suspicious when “Fan Xiaoxu” displays astonishing growth and inexplicable knowledge of Zhang Xuan. His deduction that Zhang Xuan has reached the Kunxu Domain is correct: the candidate before him is Zhang Xuan in disguise, not the real Fan Xiaoxu. (Chapters 1,881–1,895)
