Biography
Choosing useful teaching over rumor
Liu observes Mu Xueqing's public challenge and correctly notices that strong foundations cannot compensate for weak battle techniques. He and Zhao Wuxing are repeatedly astonished by the improvements produced by “Sun Qiang,” Zhang Xuan's disguise. After benefiting from the lecture themselves, Liu dismisses speculation about the newcomers' origins: the academy has vetted them, the teaching works, and improving cultivation matters more than gossip.
