Pride

Pride is a Peak Fallen among the Seven Corruptors and the ruler of the Great Triangle's Specter network. She demands visible submission and treats servants as proof of her superiority, a temperament Nick exploits to make her expose herself to Aegis's hidden assassin. (Chapters 679–680 and 692–694)

Biography

Dominance through relays and servants

Pride first manifests through a Major Relay as an adult woman whose presence makes Nick's borrowed mist body feel forced into submission. The projection has advanced perception but little direct power, so she depends on servants to investigate the unfamiliar Specter. Nick pretends to be unintelligent, kills an expendable subordinate, and converts apparent incompetence into continued access. Pride is arrogant enough to demand that every creature recognize her station, but practical enough to test Nick rather than destroy a potentially useful servant, letting his performance survive her suspicion. (Chapters 679–680)

Lured into the Knife's strike

Nick escalates the deception by killing an important servant and waiting beside a prepared escape route, calculating that Pride may appear personally to restore control. Pride comes, focuses on the supposedly worthless mist, and coldly dismisses her remaining Fallen when the Knife materializes. Her attempt to offer compliance is irrelevant to an assassin built around the first secret blow: a black streak cuts her body apart and destroys the Peak Fallen. The death gives humanity control of the Great Triangle but also reveals the Knife's deployment and triggers immediate conflict across the world, so Pride's insistence on personal dominance has consequences far beyond her own organization. Appearance and personality

Pride's relay avatar is an adult woman in extravagant clothing with a commanding gaze. She projects disgust, hatred, and a powerful feeling of dominance, treating perceived weakness as contemptible. Her arrogance is not total stupidity—she can favor incompetence over conspiracy as an explanation—but affronts to her status repeatedly push her toward the response Nick wants. (Chapters 679–680)

Abilities and Zephyx

As a Peak Fallen, Pride has perception and direct power far beyond Demons, commands multiple powerful servants, and can impose an intense feeling of dominance through a relay. A Major Relay sharply limits how much force she can exert remotely, making the avatar dependent on subordinates. Her true body is formidable enough that Nick expects several Peak Protectors would normally be required, but the Knife's specialized surprise strike bypasses a conventional battle and kills her before she can defend herself.
