The False Prophet is a sentient Mid Adversary whose prophecies have an equal chance of being true or false. It voluntarily works with Aegis and becomes the first Adversary the organization contains, but every use of its power threatens catastrophes far beyond the immediate prediction. Biography

Aegis Collaboration and the Final Prophecy

The False Prophet accepts containment because it believes destiny cannot be escaped and seeks the suffering its predictions cause. Its work helps advance the Old Champion, yet the corresponding catastrophes destroy cities across the world, forcing Aegis to treat useful knowledge as a global hazard. When Nick confronts it, the False Prophet predicts its own death and offers a final statement: Nick will die in the last battle. Nick decides that leaving such prophecies in the world presents an unacceptable threat to humanity’s plans and destroys its tiny core. The prediction’s truth does not redeem the deliberate danger of the method; its death ends further use of that power. (Chapters 571, 781, and 903–904)

Appearance and personality

The False Prophet appears as a floating ball of light surrounding a core only nanometers across. It is articulate, fatalistic, and oriented toward suffering, interpreting its own expected death as a fixed event rather than a reason to seek escape. (Chapters 903–904)

Abilities and Zephyx

Each “work” produces a concrete prophecy with a fifty-percent chance of truth and a fifty-percent chance of falsehood. The result is specific enough to influence major decisions, but each activation is associated with worldwide catastrophe and destroyed cities. No method for distinguishing true from false outcomes beforehand is established, making the ability strategically tempting and fundamentally unreliable. (Chapters 571, 781, and 903–904)
