Sublime Spirit Doyen

The Sublime Spirit Doyen is an ancient guardian who converts his life and the sacrifice of his disciple Wei’er into one of the Three Scripture Spikes used against Daoist Xuan Yin.

Biography

The hidden reserve

The Doyen waits inside one of three temples with Wei’er while the Realm suffers its first invasion. The temples are deliberately held back because their combined scripture art was prepared for an Eight-Essences Paragon, not for ordinary Outsiders or even lesser Paragons. This explains the painful distance between the Doyen’s apparent inactivity and his actual responsibility. (Chapter 1319)

When Xuan Yin destroys the Fifth Mountain and breaks the shield, he appears with the Dao Divinity and Heaven Severing Doyens. They surround her, burn longevity, and use the Three Scriptures to keep her from simply leaving. Even their combined Imperial Lord-level strength cannot win through force, so the entire confrontation is structured around producing three internal seals. (Chapters 1378–1381)

Wei’er and the final spike

Wei’er voluntarily gives up life, soul, and custody of the scripture to restore his master’s failing vitality. The Doyen accepts because refusing would make both generations’ long preparation meaningless. Regret remains in him as all restored qi, blood, and soul converge into a bone-like spike from his forehead. He dies calmly, and the spike pierces Xuan Yin’s chest and heart, contributing to the collapse of her Eight-Essences cultivation. (Chapter 1382)

Appearance and personality

He appears as an ancient old man in a temple with a young disciple. His defining qualities are patience, restraint, and sorrowful resolve. The text does not portray Wei’er’s death as something he demands casually; his regret and calm death show that he accepts the cost because the Realm has no other available counter.

Abilities and cultivation

Imperial Lord-level scripture cultivation

The Doyen’s aura is comparable to an Imperial Lord and is founded on the Sublime Spirit Scripture. Against Xuan Yin, this strength can support restraint but cannot overcome Eight Essences directly. He must combine it with the other Doyens’ scriptures and sacrifice every part of his own existence. (Chapters 1378–1382)

Sublime Spirit Spike

Wei’er’s sacrifice first restores the Doyen, after which his qi, blood, life, soul, and scripture power condense into a spike emerging from the forehead. The spike targets Xuan Yin’s chest and heart. Its purpose is internal suppression rather than a simple wound, and its creation kills the Doyen permanently. Together with the other two spikes, it seals Essences and leaves Xuan Yin near Imperial Lord strength. (Chapter 1382)

Three Scripture formation

The Doyen helps form a triangular seal with the other two guardians. Longevity from the Doyens and their custodians powers the restraint while the spikes are prepared. The need for three lineages, three custodians, and fatal conversion makes the technique a one-time strategic reserve rather than a repeatable battlefield attack. (Chapters 1379–1382)
