Dao Divinity Doyen
The Dao Divinity Doyen is one of three ancient scripture guardians preserved as a hidden reserve against an Eight-Essences Paragon.
Biography
Waiting behind the war
The Doyen remains within one of three concealed temples with an apprentice while the First Heaven invasion unfolds. His inaction during the destruction of Mountains and the deaths of countless cultivators is deliberate: the Three Great Daoist Societies have one prepared answer to an Eight-Essences enemy, and revealing it against lesser opponents would waste generations of preparation. (Chapter 1319)
When Daoist Xuan Yin descends, the three Doyens finally appear and arrange themselves around her. They accept that their Imperial Lord-level power cannot defeat her through ordinary combat, so they use the Three Scriptures as a sealing formation and begin burning longevity. Their goal is not survival but to create an opening that permanently removes Essences from the invader. (Chapters 1378–1381)
Dao Divinity Spike
The Dao Divinity apprentice willingly explodes into scriptural symbols, restoring the Doyen’s depleted vitality for one final act. The Doyen then withers as all qi, blood, cultivation, and soul converge into a spike from his forehead. The spike enters Xuan Yin’s forehead and floods her brain with boundless Divine Sense, helping seal her cultivation. His life ends in the transformation, but the internal seal remains and lets Meng Hao fight her at a drastically reduced level. (Chapter 1382)
Appearance and personality
The Doyen is an ancient old man who waits in a temple beside a younger custodian. He is patient, austere, and duty-bound enough to endure being misunderstood while holding the Realm’s last reserve. He accepts both his apprentice’s willing death and his own only when their prepared target arrives.
Abilities and cultivation
Imperial Lord-level scripture cultivation
The Doyen has an aura comparable to an Imperial Lord and cultivates the Dao Divinity Scripture to its guardian culmination. This is insufficient for a direct victory over an Eight-Essences Paragon; even three Doyens, Sea Dream, and a Paragon puppet struggle to contain Xuan Yin. His value lies in converting that cultivation into a specialized internal seal. (Chapters 1378–1382)
Three Scripture formation
Together with the Heaven Severing and Sublime Spirit Doyens, he occupies one point of a triangular formation. Scripture auras and burned longevity restrain Xuan Yin long enough for three spikes to be produced. The formation depends on all three traditions and their custodians; it is a prepared collective technique rather than a spell he can reproduce alone. (Chapters 1379–1382)
Dao Divinity Spike
After the apprentice’s sacrifice restores him, every remaining component of the Doyen’s existence condenses into a forehead spike. It targets Xuan Yin’s head and releases overwhelming Divine Sense within her brain, functioning as an internal cultivation seal. Creating it is fatal and consumes the practitioner, so it has no second use. In combination with the other spikes, it helps drop Xuan Yin from Eight Essences toward Imperial Lord strength.
