The Demon Realm Royal Crown is a layered royal artifact that binds a reigning monarch to the kingdom's nobles. Its refusal to accept the young King reveals that Queen Elizabeth never fully died, allowing Wolfe to restore the rightful monarch rather than sever the surviving bond.

History

A succession that never completed

The young King asks Wolfe for help because he cannot connect to the inscription that should link him to his nobles and let him draw on their power. The crown hangs casually from a bedpost, but Wolfe's examination finds an intricate magical item built from six arrays. Its monarch-to-vassal layer appears damaged or tampered with because it remains bonded to someone else. (Chapter 632)

Wolfe carries the crown while tracing that bond into the Royal Crypts. The crypt passages themselves recognize the artifact, and the surviving link leads not to the young King's predecessor's empty office but to the gem on a simple golden sceptre inside Queen Elizabeth's sarcophagus. (Chapter 633)

The restored Queen

The sceptre holds a soul link, a body-reconstruction summoning array, and Eternal Vigilance. Wolfe activates it in contact with the crown, allowing Elizabeth to form a new body. The sceptre flies to her hand and the crown rises to her head, where it restores her connection to royal enchantments and vassals. She immediately uses that link to summon the kingdom's nobles to the Palace. (Chapters 633–634)

Elizabeth later explains that the crown never passed on. The young King had been holding the throne in absentia and remains her intended successor, but he was never the active bonded monarch. The artifact's failed transfer was therefore evidence of the Queen's survival, not merely a defective coronation device. (Chapter 636)

Properties and limitations

  • Six layered arrays include a monarch-to-vassal bond connecting the reigning wearer with the kingdom's nobles. Through it, the monarch can draw power and issue an involuntary summons. (Chapters 632 and 634)
  • The crown serves as a succession and inheritance artifact. It cannot properly establish a new royal bond while the prior monarch's connection remains active. (Chapters 632–634)
  • It grants access through charmed Royal Crypt passages, making physical custody important even before it is worn. (Chapter 633)
  • The crown does not resurrect Elizabeth by itself. Her sceptre supplies the soul link, summoning/body-reconstruction array, copied defenses, and Eternal Vigilance connection. (Chapters 633–634)
  • Its material, color, gemstones, and exact silhouette are not stated. The simple golden object in the crypt is the separate sceptre, not a description of the crown.
