Cassie's Family-Crest Amulet is a green faux-jade mana talisman that Wolfe and Cassie create before entering the Academy. Its humble construction, Noxus bloodline lock, and shared magical work make it both practical protection and early proof that their combined craft can reproduce lost Magi effects.

History

Making the mana talismans

Cassie and Wolfe experiment with wooden discs, reagents, blood, and Wolfe's newly discovered mana to create storage talismans. The first attempt drains Wolfe and overwhelms Cassie, but the completed objects greatly improve the mana available to her. They make backups and a separate gift for Elder Maria because theft and damage are serious risks for a commoner student entering the Academy. (Chapters 13–15)

Wolfe coats the strongest talisman in clear resin and sets the weaker open-wear talisman in opaque green resin. He carves the latter to resemble a jade amulet bearing the Noxus Family crest: a venomous snake wrapped in a circle around interlocking runes. This green crested object is the amulet Cassie continues to wear; it should not be merged with the stronger clear-resin backup or Maria's gift. (Chapters 15–16)

A protected family focus

A visiting Countess notices the amulet and recognizes that its old family runes remain correct despite its inexpensive materials. She charges the bloodline restriction and returns it to Cassie's neck. When another witch tries to pull it away, her hand turns black until she releases it, demonstrating that only someone accepted by the Family bloodline can safely wear or use it. (Chapter 16)

Cassie treats the weaker but protected amulet as the one she can wear openly at school. Mary later notices that its crest matches Wolfe's tattoo, reinforcing its link to the Noxus lineage. The physical amulet is not tracked in later arcs, but no transfer, destruction, or replacement is stated. (Chapters 17 and 33)

Properties and limitations

  • The base talisman gathers or stores mana for Cassie and can accept mana supplied by Wolfe. It improves her practical reserves but does not create new innate spell knowledge. (Chapters 13–14)
  • The carved crest restricts wearing and use to the Family bloodline and punishes an unauthorized attempt to remove it. The demonstrated punishment blackens the offending hand until the witch releases the amulet and counters the effect. (Chapter 16)
  • This is the weaker of Cassie's two retained talismans, chosen for visible everyday wear rather than maximum stored power. (Chapter 17)
  • Its materials are ordinary: a wooden disc, resin/enamel, and careful carving made to resemble green jade. Resin protects it because the underlying object can still be damaged. (Chapters 13, 15, and 16)
  • Purple light is associated with the creation of the original talisman, but the source does not say that the finished amulet glows continuously. (Chapter 13)
