Petros

Petros is a centuries-old Fallen commander who becomes Wolfe Noxus's principal human counterpart beyond the Mortal Plane. Introduced as a Rank Eight Unholy mage, he is forced into King Rank when he kills his attacking monarch and inherits the Fallen throne through its curse.

Biography

Luton encounter and magical exchange

Petros meets Wolfe after a portal mishap leaves the Magi in Luton during a noble gathering. Rather than treating the stranger as an immediate enemy, he recognizes the Lowest-Planes energy changing Wolfe, tries to understand the failed portal, and asks what Wolfe actually wants so that the problem can be solved without further disruption. His caution is informed by memory: he personally signed the old magically binding Fallen–Magi treaty and produces his preserved copy to prove that the obligations still apply. (Chapters 899–900)

Once Wolfe begins sharing runic and magical knowledge, Petros turns a dangerous intrusion into an exchange. He introduces Wolfe to local families, arranges military and artificing seminars, teaches advanced combat magic nearby, and studies unfamiliar spells such as Kind Intentions even when his first attempt fails. He also opens portals for controlled trials and organizes equipment, personnel, and reports. Forced succession and renewed peace

Wolfe's Rank Eight advancement terrifies the Fallen King, and Petros first tries to prevent a catastrophe. He removes bystanders from the advancement site, warns Wolfe about the King's paranoia, sends Wolfe's companions home, and frames him as a foreign ambassador protected by treaty. When the King attacks anyway, breaks the old pact, orders the assembled nobles killed, and advances on Wolfe, Petros ends the crisis by decapitating the monarch. The killing triggers an Unholy inheritance curse that transfers the old King's power and throne to Petros. Petros studies aircraft as an alternative to costly portals, receives three small Royal-liveried planes for Crown use, and begins adapting the Empire's transport and trade expectations. His willingness to be impressed never becomes passive dependence: he evaluates what his worlds can pay, which technologies can scale, and how dangerous weapons or coerced recruitment must be restricted. Schools, imperial reform, and a restored world

As King, Petros helps choose Fallen candidates for Wolfe's expanded academy system and investigates whether the arrangement serves people below the nobility. His judgments remain severe—he uses truth compulsion and executes a confessed serial murderer with Unholy Fire—but he also rewards a talented student from a punished family and releases her mother and sisters from collective punishment. The contrast shows a ruler reforming inherited structures unevenly rather than becoming an egalitarian overnight. (Chapters 1025–1034)

Petros later confronts Wolfe for relocating rebellious mage towers and their surviving knowledge into Forest Grove. His anger gives way to a negotiated solution when he recognizes that the teachers can still train Fallen students and graduates can support worlds short of elemental expertise. He orders the remaining villages integrated without disparaging the departed mages and accepts future assistance in exchange for leaving the instructors where they can avoid civil war. Petros is an older man with short grey hair and the formal bearing of a military noble. His clothing is presented through command and court contexts rather than a stable colour palette. He is pragmatic, irritable when magical experiments escape control, and politically wary, yet capable of laughter and self-deprecation. He dislikes the implication that enchanted statues of his face make him vain and finds Palace politics more exhausting than research. Magic, skills, and limitations

Unholy magic and portals

Petros begins as an explicit Rank Eight Fallen mage. He creates portals over useful distances, sends magical transmissions, accesses stored equipment through small portals, raises defensive barriers, uses truth compulsion, and can burn a target to ash with Unholy Fire. These abilities make him an exceptional commander and administrator, but they do not give him a Magi core or automatic mastery of foreign spell structures. Magical literacy and command

At Rank Eight, Petros can see intricate mana flows well enough to study Wolfe's layered work, but seeing is not the same as reproducing it: his Kind Intentions spell initially fails at its final layer. His strengths include combat instruction, logistics, long-range coordination, magical contracts, and the institutional memory needed to interpret old treaties. King inheritance and constraints

Petros reaches King Rank through a transferred curse after killing the old monarch, not through a cultivation breakthrough. The title carries power and a succession mechanism: if he steps down, power can pass to a chosen heir; if he dies prematurely, it can pass by magical contract or to his killer.
