True Light is a fist-sized golden crystal containing the true light of the Sun in a single moment. Jason earns it in the third Reaper trial and preserves it for years as an ultimate weapon against vampires before spending it to defeat the gold-rank reality anomaly Tran. (Chapters 170, 408)

History

Jason receives True Light after confronting his greatest fear in the trial. The item is rare rather than legendary but carries diamond rank, far beyond Jason’s ability to evaluate through ordinary use. Its simple instruction—to consume it and release the Sun’s true light—leaves its practical scale unclear, so Jason stores it instead of testing a one-use reward. (Chapter 170)

During the vampire war, Tran overwhelms sealed gold-rank fighters and begins transforming Gerling. Jason recognises that ordinary tactics will fail and reluctantly activates the crystal he intended to reserve as his greatest anti-vampire weapon. He channels mana into it, cuts off Tran’s head, then places the crystal directly inside the torso. The light burns out after moments, but the internal exposure finishes destroying the anomaly. (Chapter 408)

Properties and use

Earth’s ordinary sunlight lacks enough magic to seriously harm its vampires, but True Light releases diamond-rank magical sunlight. Its radiance melts Tran’s aura, disperses conjured animals and dissolves blood-chain constructs before making a gold-rank body unable to withstand Jason’s attack. The crystal is therefore especially potent against vampiric powers, although the release is brief and Jason still acts to exploit it. (Chapter 408)

True Light is a single-use crystallised moment, not a renewable light source. Its short duration and irreplaceable nature force Jason to commit at close range and place it inside Tran to ensure the kill. The crystal is fully consumed in doing so; no surviving item remains for later battles. (Chapters 170, 408)
