Biography

From expendable operative to clan employee

Rhett and Jaime are ordered to move a collared prisoner across the ruined island after beacon coverage fails. Rhett recognises that Sendira has used them as decoys, but sees no option except completing the retreat; Jason quietly steals the prisoner, leaving the pair to report an embarrassing failure. Shade later eavesdrops on them because their constant conversation exposes ordinary Order life, while Melody keeps them close precisely because their minds are less flattened by conversion than those of most zealots. By Jason’s later return, Rhett and Jaime are former Order members working at Clan Asano reception, where their harmless sales talk contrasts sharply with their old coercive role.
