Purity is the god whose church teaches that selected essences are holy while others taint the soul. That doctrine shapes Anisa's early hostility and later becomes a vehicle for a hidden god's extremism after the original Purity withdraws. (Chapters 20, 770)

Biography

The corrupted church

Purity's decision to sanction himself leaves his clergy without the patron they believe they serve. Disguise quietly adopts the vacant role, rejects priests old enough to remember the original faith and gradually pushes later generations toward its harshest doctrines. The deception turns a restrictive church into an instrument of conspiracy, and the artefact left behind by Purity later draws the messenger invasion across Pallimustus. (Chapters 770, 855)

Divine influence

Purity's church distinguishes approved essences from those it claims corrupt the soul, giving its clergy a theological basis for exclusion. The later divine impersonation demonstrates the limitation of that authority: worshippers can receive real divine signs yet misunderstand the identity and agenda behind them. (Chapters 20, 770)
