Craig

Craig is a bandit in the group occupying a poor veldt town and enslaving its residents. His brief appearance illustrates the casual violence Jason encounters when returning to ordinary adventuring after Greenstone's political conflicts. (Chapter 217)

Biography

The occupied town

Craig participates in a bandit occupation maintained through murder, intimidation and the open abuse of enslaved residents. Jason enters unseen and kills him inside a building, then drags the body away with his blood-robe tendrils to unsettle the remaining bandits. Craig's death becomes the first signal that the occupiers' control has ended, turning their own reliance on fear back against them. (Chapter 217)

Skills and limitations

Craig belongs to an armed essence-user society in which bandits use magical power to dominate civilians, but he never detects Jason's stealth or survives the opening attack. (Chapter 217)
