Biography

Loyalty as a survival tactic

Barbou turns on the wider Network for Lyon, on Lyon for the EOA and later divulges information under Gerling's control. Noreth anticipates those betrayals and limits the secrets Adrien knows, yet enters the transformation zone to recover him anyway. Their relationship shows a distinction Noreth rarely permits: he accepts a friend's faults without pretending they are virtues, even when rescuing that friend complicates a crisis already threatening the planet. (Chapters 435, 442–446)

Skills and limitations

Adrien is an experienced magical operative and administrator with enough political adaptability to survive collapsing factions. The same flexibility makes him impossible to trust with critical secrets; his value lies in access and persistence, not steadfast loyalty. (Chapters 284, 435)
