Vornaz

Vornaz, the Demon of Ruin, is one demon acting through multiple manifestations, including a dark blade and an owl. Those forms are not separate weapon spirits or reincarnations. Vornaz independently chooses contracts, refuses harmful use, and repeatedly finds Moraine across her reincarnations. (Chapters 675 and 682–684)

Biography

Jack's contract and Moraine's companion

Jack Hanma defeats Vornaz and uses its Authority to locate a chosen target, a bargain that drains his life until both sides fight with full effort. Later, one of Vornaz's manifestations remains with a despairing Moraine. When she raises its blade toward her neck, the demon changes into an owl and escapes her grip. It stays after another demon leaves, tells stories about “him,” finds Moraine in every reincarnation, and refuses to let her spend every day crying, calling their routine therapy. A later quest offers Neo Hargraves Vornaz's location. (Chapters 675, 682–684, and 703)

Powers and limitations

Vornaz's Authority guides a contractor to a designated person across past, present, or future, but compels a full-strength confrontation and drains the contractor's life until both participants give their best. The demon can become a weapon or animal, speak, remember across Eons, and follow reincarnations. Its independent will prevents a wielder from treating the blade as an inert tool.
