Veldora

Veldora Elowyn Starfall is an Ancient Dragon of the Underworld who dedicates his existence to protecting Neo Hargraves, the Second Prince of Death. He begins as an infant wyvern and friend of an earlier Neo incarnation, then spends repeated reincarnations evolving his bloodline so he can someday break the prince's curse. Neo, without Veldora's knowledge, sacrifices his own Ancient Dragon blood to make that impossible evolution succeed. Their bond reverses the usual guardian hierarchy: Veldora serves as rescuer, guide, and mentor, while Neo secretly invests the power that lets his protector grow. (Chapters 359, 518, and 766)

Biography

Altered history and the last warning

Early Underworld reports say that Veldora wakes after centuries of sleep and attacks the Wandering Giant Neromax when the monster takes Neo's blood. In the altered Shadow Trial future, Veldora is the guardian of the Forest of All Beginnings and one of the few beings who knows Neo's future identity. He leaves his assigned territory and crosses into the living world only after the Underworld falls. Despite broken wings, a missing leg, a crushed skull, and purple fractures through his bones, he searches the entire planet and reaches the person he exists to protect. (Chapters 144, 283, and 359)

Veldora reports Hades's death and explains that the Underworld was sealed to keep Neo away from a battle its defenders lost. He apologizes for surviving only long enough to warn the prince and asks him to stay alive before his body, soul, and Seed of Existence disintegrate. That true death belongs to the altered history produced inside the Shadow Trial; it is not the later primary-timeline death beside the Blood Sea. The scene establishes the same vow in its bleakest form: Veldora measures his worth by whether he can outlast and save Neo, even when carrying information is the only protection left to give. True Name, the Underworld journey, and chosen service

After the Shadow Trial ends, Neo calls Veldora by his True Name at the Blood Sea. The living Ancient Dragon arrives in an obsidian-scaled body and offers transport to Hades's palace. During the flight, Neo reads the Intent Veldora freely exposes. It reveals an infant wyvern who befriended the Second Prince, cried when the prince was forced to reincarnate, and vowed to become strong enough to prevent another separation. Veldora trusts Neo with even his weaknesses, letting the prince use that knowledge to refine his own Intent senses while they travel. (Chapters 358–360)

Veldora becomes guide as well as mount. He explains the Underworld's Houses, Bael's All-Seeing Eye, the passage of souls, and the possibility that reincarnations appear in different eras. He waits outside the royal palace because only the Monarch's bloodline may enter, then returns with Neo to the living world in a smaller blue-flame form. Unlike Grim Reapers, he has never sworn himself to Hades. His small measure of Monarch blood prevents monsterization but restricts his interference; his loyalty belongs voluntarily and entirely to Neo, which is why Neo refuses to test Crownless King on him until he knows the bond cannot turn devotion into compulsion. The Executioner mission and the Blood Sea loss

Neo calls Veldora again when distance threatens his attempt to save Elizabeth. The dragon answers immediately, carries him across days of travel in an hour, advises against hiding his face, and promises a fate worse than death to anyone who attacks the prince. Veldora's protectiveness repeatedly exceeds Neo's preferred restraint: he pressures Charlotte for speaking sternly and Percival for addressing Neo casually, then withdraws when Neo orders him to stop. The incidents show loyalty as an active personality rather than passive obedience, and Neo consistently answers it by treating Veldora as a friend capable of judgment and correction. (Chapters 366–367 and 392–394)

In Tartarus's Nightmare World, Veldora recognizes that the Neo beside the group is false and attacks Vlad because the Great Disaster intends to kill the real one. Vlad kills him, and the Blood Sea consumes the soul so completely that time regression cannot return it. Neo abandons other urgent choices to pursue revenge, remembering that Veldora delayed ordinary rank growth to evolve from wyvern to Ancient Dragon for his sake. A later revelation completes their reciprocal history: Neo once surrendered nearly all of his own Ancient Dragon blood to Veldora in secret. Veldora believed he had failed his protégé; in reality, each had sacrificed advancement to make the other survivable. (Chapters 518, 533, and 766)

Appearance and personality

Veldora's primary living form is a colossal dragon with obsidian-like scales, faint glowing runes, intelligent red eyes, and wings large enough to darken the sky. He controls his presence and flight with extraordinary precision: a wingbeat could destroy the Forest of All Beginnings, yet he carries Neo without wind or uprooted branches. In the living world he can dismiss that body into a small blue flame hovering near Neo's shoulder, a form that suits the restrictions placed on beings touched by the Monarch's blood. (Chapters 358–359, 366–367, and 392–394)

The altered future shows him as an ancient bone dragon whose ruined anatomy still covers the sky and terrifies a planet. Across both forms he is formal, wise, protective, and self-critical. He calls Neo Prince or young master, bows even while dying, and treats failures across reincarnations as personal debts. He can also be overbearing toward anyone he considers disrespectful. Neo's orders curb those reactions because the loyalty is chosen, not mindless: Veldora listens, explains, worries, and trusts enough to expose every weakness in his Intent. Powers and limitations

Ancient Dragon body and bloodline

Veldora evolves from an infant wyvern into an Ancient Dragon by repeatedly refining his bloodline, a feat others consider impossible. Neo's hidden sacrifice of Ancient Dragon blood supplies the decisive foundation. The resulting body has immense force, speed, perception, and durability, and its True Name carries the existential weight associated with Paragon-or-higher beings. Ancient Dragon is a bloodline class, not proof of a numbered God stage; Veldora is explicitly only Exalted rank despite the quality of his foundation. (Chapters 358–359, 392, 518, and 766)

Intent, perception, and flight

His perception can span the globe in altered history, while his ordinary aura overwhelms weaker beings. Veldora can cross the Blood Sea at extreme speed without provoking its attacks and transport Neo across continental distance in roughly an hour. His control is as notable as output: he retracts harmful Intent around Neo and shapes flight so precisely that the rider experiences no drag. He willingly opens the Intent of thought, body, and existence to Neo, which creates a serious vulnerability if offered to someone hostile. (Chapters 283, 359–360, and 392–393)

Monarch blood and living-world restrictions

A small quantity of Hades's blood prevents Veldora from degrading into a mindless Underworld monster. Because he never swears the full Angel oath to Hades, he receives neither a Grim Reaper's complete abilities nor its absolute restrictions. He can enter and move within the living world more freely, but direct interference remains limited. His blue-flame form helps him accompany Neo without maintaining the full dragon body, yet the narrative does not say that transformation changes his formal rank. (Chapter 366)

Mortality and the Blood Sea

Veldora is not immortal. In one altered future, attackers erase his soul and Seed of Existence, preventing even Hades from reviving him. In primary history, Vlad kills him and the Blood Sea consumes the soul, placing it beyond Neo's regression. These are distinct deaths in distinct histories with the same outcome: an Ancient Dragon's foundation and loyalty cannot overcome total existence erasure or a Great Disaster acting through the Blood Sea. Neo Hargraves

Veldora is Neo's friend across reincarnations, sworn guardian, guide, and mentor in Intent and Underworld structure. Neo is also his hidden benefactor: he sacrifices the blood that makes Veldora an Ancient Dragon. Each believes protection flows primarily toward the other, making the relationship reciprocal even when their formal language remains prince and servant. (Chapters 283, 358–367, 392–394, 518, and 766)

Hades and the Underworld

Veldora serves the Underworld's order and guards the Forest of All Beginnings but does not swear the Angel oath to Hades. The Monarch's blood prevents monsterization while leaving his central loyalty with Neo. He still mourns Hades's altered-history fall and accepts Underworld law as the structure within which he protects the prince. (Chapters 283, 359–360, and 366)

Bael

Bael guards the World Core and holds a separate formal appointment as Neo's guardian. Veldora explains Bael's All-Seeing Eye and delivers Neo to the palace but does not share Bael's identity, rank, or office. The two represent complementary protection: Bael is bound to the Core, while Veldora moves with the prince. (Chapters 360–364)

Vlad

Vlad kills Veldora after the dragon sees through the false Neo and attacks to protect the real one. Because the Blood Sea consumes the soul, the murder becomes one of the losses Neo cannot undo through time. It drives Neo to prioritize vengeance despite dangerous competing crises. (Chapters 518 and 533)

Items

Veldora has no separately cataloged signature artifact. His True Name, dragon blood, blue-flame form, and Monarch blood are parts of his existence rather than possessions.
