Thanatos

Thanatos is the name Neo Hargraves gives to created clone instances. The profile does not cover Neo's historical use of “Thanatos” as his own alias, and the clone bodies shown across rewritten histories are not presented as one uninterrupted individual. (Chapters 284–287, 519–522, and 721)

Biography

Intent-clone bodies across rewritten histories

The first Thanatos identifies himself to Ares as Neo's Intent clone, left to protect the Association until the World-Time Spell activates. He can follow predetermined commands independently or be controlled directly by Neo. Split into two bodies, the clones defend the headquarters and rescue Jack and Emma from the maggot invasion. Stored techniques function like finite ammunition, the bodies cannot heal normally, and both continue fighting even as their physical matter cracks and fails. (Chapters 284–287)

Another Thanatos, explicitly controlled by Neo, enters Tartarus's Layer 4 while Neo's main body fights elsewhere. He sends Nyxtharion #2 into Neo's Cosmos, devours Nyxtharion #1, shares the dragon's memories with #4, and offers the wall guardians a chance to abandon Tartarus before helping complete the objective against them. These are clone actions, though Neo's direct control means the boundary between delegated and personally directed choices is stated scene by scene. (Chapters 519–522)

Neo creates a later clone in Chapter 721 and says Thanatos will share his Path. That clone travels to spread it and later fights beside Ilyana against the Alliance's anti-Heavenbreaker force. It refuses to abandon Jack, uses Time Worlds and the Turn-Based RPG technique, but Velion and other ancient dragons seal it with a technique designed for this confrontation. The narrative later follows Neo's main body separately and does not clearly resolve the sealed clone's individual fate. (Chapters 721, 754, 758–759, and 762)

Appearance and personality

Thanatos generally resembles Neo closely enough to require verbal clarification, though later versions can appear tall and cloaked. The clones inherit Neo's bluntness and protective priorities while operating within commands or direct control, so apparent independence never makes them unrelated originals. Powers and limitations

Intent-clone bodies carry a limited store of techniques, can use telepathy, Shadows, swordsmanship, barriers, and portals, and may be split or directly piloted. They lack Neo's full physical blessings and ordinary healing. Later versions share Neo's Path and far greater techniques, but the text assigns no independent formal rank; the SSS rank in Chapter 284 belongs to summoned Shadows. Relationships

Neo is creator, controller, and power source. Jack and Emma are protected because Neo orders or personally directs that protection, while Ilyana becomes the later clone's wartime ally.
