Sunshine

Sunshine is a living, speaking Spirit created from a portion of Apollo's soul. It is not an artifact and does not become the property of the Association merely because a contract regulates its use. (Chapters 228 and 252)

Biography

Apollo's Spirit across failed and restored histories

Apollo summons Sunshine as an immense golden sun during the Apocalypse-era defense. Its Holy and Light presence purifies Darkness and Death, but synchronization places severe strain on Apollo, while the area it illuminates can be permanently damaged for dark-aligned beings. Failed Shadow-Trial histories give Sunshine different outcomes: it disappears in one attempt and fades after Apollo burns his life as fuel in another, events later timeline revisions do not preserve as its final state. (Chapters 228–234, 252, 271, and 310–311)

In the later history, an ancestral blessing permits Percival to call Sunshine. The Spirit voluntarily appears inside Tartarus to save him, speaks directly, and guides him through despair and forgotten history. Their temporary Divine Transformation merges Sunshine's power through Percival without making the fusion permanent. Sunshine later speaks through or briefly controls Percival as the Spirit of Timeless Sun, but Percival reasserts control. (Chapters 400, 456–460, and 700)

Appearance and personality

Sunshine manifests as a colossal golden sun whose presence carries warmth, pressure, and purifying light. Its speech is blunt and sometimes merciless, particularly when confronting Percival's cowardice, yet that severity is directed toward keeping him alive and moving. (Chapters 228–234 and 456–460)

Powers and limitations

Sunshine uses Holy Wave, Light and Holy purification, large-area radiance, guidance, possession-like speech, and temporary Divine Transformation. Synchronization can exhaust its partner, and failed histories show that consuming Apollo's life can extinguish the Spirit. No formal personal rank is assigned. Relationships

Apollo is Sunshine's source and original partner; the Spirit belongs to him rather than the Association. Percival later receives access through the ancestral blessing and becomes Sunshine's current partner. Sunshine's reference to “Thanatos” in erased history concerns Neo's old identity context, not the separate intent-clone instances profiled under that name. (Chapters 252, 400, 415, 460, and 536)
