Nyxtharion #4

Nyxtharion #4 is one of the numbered wall-guardian dragons created from pieces of the original Elder Dragon Nyxtharion. It is not Nyxtharion #1, the heart-born original piece, or Nyxtharion #2, the brain-born strategist. (Chapters 486–499)

Biography

The Layer 4 time loops and final refusal

Nyxtharion #4 confronts Neo across a sequence of loops and proposes regressing before Neo entered the Nightmare World. Its suspicion makes it the loudest opponent of trusting Neo's claimed mission from Kane, but the hivemind eventually votes to inspect his memories and test whether he can devour Protector fragments without losing control. #4 then helps revive and fight Protectors, repeatedly questioning Neo's intentions even while following the collective decision. (Chapters 486–492 and 499–500)

After Nyxtharion #2 disappears into Neo's Cosmos, #4 correctly concludes that Neo has betrayed the wall guardians and attacks. Thanatos transfers Nyxtharion #1's memories and offers the surviving pieces a chance to abandon Tartarus, but #4 refuses because it considers a dragon's promise inviolable even after the moral basis of that promise collapses. True Darkness then completes Neo's objective to eliminate or subdue every piece. (Chapters 520–522)

Appearance and personality

Nyxtharion #4 is a wall-guardian dragon who speaks through the collective's distinctive “Great I” voice. It is suspicious, proud, quick to threaten force, and ultimately more loyal to an oath than to evidence that the oath serves injustice. (Chapters 486–492 and 522)

Powers and limitations

#4 shares the Nyxtharion hivemind, uses purple dragon fire and Space Lock, and can participate in revival and River of Time regression with other pieces. Those collective abilities do not establish a personal numbered stage, and separation from the hivemind limits information. (Chapters 486–492, 499–500, and 520)

Relationships

Nyxtharion #2 is the strategist whose willingness to trust Neo repeatedly frustrates #4. Neo becomes both deceiver and offered judge, while Tartarus remains the master #4 refuses to betray. Each relationship is filtered through loyalty to the whole Nyxtharion rather than an independent personal ambition. (Chapters 486–492 and 520–522)
