Nyxtharion #1

Nyxtharion #1 is the only original fragment born from the heart of Elder Dragon Nyxtharion the Evernight. He is neither the intact Elder Dragon nor Nyxtharion #2: fragments #2 through #537 are undead pieces that depend on #1's repeated necromancy. (Chapters 499–500)

Biography

The heart-fragment's collapse

Nyxtharion the Evernight originally pursues necromancy so the dead can live again and bargains with Tartarus for Hades's blood, hoping to evolve from Elder Dragon to Ancient Dragon. In the resulting fragment collective, #1 keeps reviving every defeated piece. The cost destroys his sanity until Nyxtharion #2 asks Neo to grow strong enough to end “I” and release the only original fragment from misery. (Chapters 499 and 522)

The other fragments seal #1 in a cave, where he neither thinks nor moves unless called. They also force him to absorb the madness diverted from Neo. When Thanatos—Neo's controlled Intent Clone—finally enters, #1 appears as a young man with no remaining self, reflexively grabs his enemy, and offers no meaningful resistance. Neo's Darkness devours him, gains his memories, and ends the necromantic structure sustaining the numbered copies. (Chapters 502, 518, 520, and 522)

Appearance and personality

In his final humanoid form, #1 looks like a petite man in his early twenties with long glowing silver hair, black eyes, and crescent-shaped irises. The person encountered has no coherent personality left. Compassion and ambition survive only in inherited memories of the original Nyxtharion, not in #1's final behavior. (Chapters 520 and 522)

Powers and limitations

Nyxtharion #1 continually raises dead fragments through necromancy and cannot have his Time stopped by Beelzebub. His power remains immense, but accumulated madness and forced absorption cripple his mind and body before Neo arrives. “Elder Dragon” describes the source from whose heart he was born; the text gives #1 no explicit numbered stage. Relationships

Nyxtharion #2 and the other numbered pieces are both his dependents and jailers. Tartarus exploits the original dragon's hope of advancing necromancy, while Neo becomes the requested executioner and inheritor of the memories that explain the collective's fall. (Chapters 499–500 and 520–522)
