Kyu

Kyu is not a separate canonical character name. It is the repeated cry of Beelzebub while he lives in a caterpillar-like body in Neo's pocket; Chapters 415 and 520 explicitly identify the creature making the sound as Beelzebub. (Chapters 226–227, 415, and 520)

Biography

Beelzebub's caterpillar form

The caterpillar first resists leaving Neo's pocket because months of shadow elementals have bored him, agreeing to work only after being promised a Divine Energy elixir. At Neo's command he devours the mimicked Time around Anomaly #79's statues, freezing them long enough for Neo to bury the attackers. He later refuses food out of concern when Neo is wounded, revealing affection beneath constant hunger and bargaining. (Chapters 226–227 and 234)

As Neo grows, Beelzebub's small form becomes stronger than Velkaria and considers eating her because their worm-like bodies look related. He can expand into a giant worm, stop wall guardians, and transport Dragon Clan Leaders into Neo's Cosmos. During Tartarus's final feast, he devours the entire world's Time so its condemned inhabitants can celebrate without the crumbling sky ending their farewell. (Chapters 415, 520, and 532)

Appearance and personality

In this scope Beelzebub resembles a plump caterpillar small enough for Neo's pocket, although he can grow into a worm larger than wall guardians. “Kyu” and “Kyuu” are speech sounds that Neo understands, not aliases used by other characters as a personal name. He is gluttonous, demanding, sensitive to being considered useless, and eager to protect Neo. (Chapters 226–227, 415, 475, and 520)

Powers and limitations

Beelzebub devours Time elementals, stopping a target's time or freezing an entire constructed world. Mimicked Time can make him gag, and large-scale use requires sustained effort. His growth follows Neo, but no explicit formal rank or stage is stated for the caterpillar form. (Chapters 227, 415, 475, 520, and 532)

Relationships

Neo is Beelzebub's creator, partner, interpreter, and source of growth. Velkaria fears becoming food, while the Tartarus survivors benefit from his choice to hold their world still. His desire to act as a proper elder brother toward Neo's other manifestations helps motivate his violence against the wall guardians. (Chapters 415, 520, and 532)
