Gaia

Gaia is an SSS-rank Awakener, the Awakener Association's leading technique creator, and the guardian linked to Earth's World Core. Most of her detailed history unfolds inside the synchronized Memory Shadow World experienced by Neo Hargraves. World-Time regressions repeatedly rewrite that setting, so her deaths and decisions belong to successive histories of one character rather than to a group of simultaneous Gaia copies.

Biography

The Association's hidden SSS-rank guardian

Inside the synchronized Shadow World, Gaia first searches Fate for Neo and reports that no person named Neo Hargraves exists. Her failure makes the Association consider whether the name is a symbolic future image rather than a living individual. Although public reports describe her as an S-rank Awakener returning from China, she has already created Divine Transformation and much of the Association's technique base, making her authority intellectual as well as martial. (Chapters 216 and 237)

Gaia is sent to stop Neo and pursues him with spear, light, and forest-based movement, but Perses delays her. The later confrontation corrects the public rank: she is SSS-rank and continuously restrains herself through semi-synchronization with Earth's World Core, preventing disasters that would otherwise devastate the planet. Believing Apollo and Sunshine dead, she breaks that restriction, defeats Perses, heals Apollo, and confronts Jack Hanma, while the released natural catastrophes force immediate preparations. World Core partnership with Thanatos

When Neo remains in the synchronized history as Thanatos, Gaia works with him for decades against Typhaon's parasitic hold over Earth. She completes the World Core synchronization and severs that connection, allowing Neo's Intent body to kill Typhaon without destroying the planet. Their private life contrasts with her austere public role: she rests in casual clothes, teases him, obtains a Lightning Qilin heart for his experiments, and admits that his physical Intent remains beyond her full understanding. (Chapters 276–278)

The partnership is also an explicit exchange. Gaia permanently fuses Neo's fragmented Mind Invasion trait into his Seed of Existence; in return, he protects her from assassination attempts and solves problems she cannot leave the World Core to handle. She suggests the Thanatos name and names his Time manifestation Beelzebub, but neither is a Gaia form. Their collaborative spells survive in Neo's memory, including a technique aimed at compelling honesty from Darkness users and a childbirth method created for apocalyptic conditions. Failed histories and the World-Time sacrifice

Their preparations do not prevent D-Day. Damage to the World Core transfers directly to Gaia and renders her unconscious, and she dies when the Outer invasion destroys the Association headquarters. A later World-Time regression rewrites that outcome rather than restoring it within the same uninterrupted history. In the new failed world, Typhaon has conquered much of Earth, and Gaia abandons her synchronization station to rescue civilians even though doing so unleashes the disasters she normally suppresses. (Chapters 281–282, 287, 291, and 309)

Gaia then joins Kronos and Zeus in completing the World-Time Spell around the imprisoned Professor Daniel Caelum. Under attack, she successfully connects the incomplete circle to the World Core before Typhaon inflicts fatal injuries. Her apology acknowledges that Daniel is being forced to carry another doomed world's chance, but her completed connection lets him regress again. These repeated deaths are alternative trial histories, not cumulative episodes or evidence of cloned Gaias. (Chapters 310–311, 326, and 329)

Old God legacy and later reunion

After Neo returns from the Shadow Trial, the current history regards Gaia and the other Apocalypse-era Old Gods as dead. Her technical legacy nevertheless persists through Divine Transformation, the spells she designed with Neo, her permanent alteration of his Mind Invasion trait, and the World Core knowledge he retains from decades that most of the present world never experienced. “Old God” describes how later people remember that generation; it is not an explicit numbered Godhood stage. (Chapters 338, 378, 395, 707, and 714)

Much later, Gaia is present again when Neo meets her, Nyx, and Athena for conversation and quiet companionship. He also includes Gaia among the friends he visits before entering the True World. These scenes extend their friendship beyond her martyrdom, but they do not narrate whether she was resurrected, recreated, reincarnated, or restored by another mechanism. Her endpoint is therefore presence and reunion, not a specifically defined new body or timeline state. (Chapters 826 and 833)

Appearance and personality

Gaia has straight black hair, piercing green eyes, and a cold, controlled expression when she pursues Neo with her spear. The Association-facing guardian appears formal and severe, matching the responsibility of someone continually suppressing global disasters. In private with Neo, she instead wears a baggy shirt, lounges casually, complains, jokes, and permits the fatigue hidden by her public composure to show. (Chapters 253 and 276–278)

Her restraint is both personal and literal. Gaia accepts a continuous limitation on her own usable power because the alternative is planetary catastrophe, yet repeatedly abandons self-preservation when Apollo, civilians, or the World-Time plan requires action. With Neo she is practical and transactional at first, trading technical aid for protection, before their long collaboration becomes affectionate enough for shared final moments and later quiet reunions. (Chapters 271, 279–281, 290, 309–311, and 826)

Powers and limitations

SSS-rank power and World Core synchronization

Gaia is explicitly an SSS-rank Awakener. Her apparent S-rank output results from continuous semi-synchronization with Earth's World Core, not from a later promotion shown on page. The link lets her stabilize Earth and eventually cut Typhaon's access, but it also transfers damage from the Core into her body. Releasing the restriction restores her full fighting output while allowing the natural disasters she had restrained to erupt across the world. (Chapters 237, 271, 276–278, and 281–282)

Fate, light, healing, and nature

Gaia can examine Fate, though Neo's anomalous existence defeats her search. In direct action she wields a spear, travels by linking herself to a forest, uses Light and Holy power, and heals Apollo and Zeus after breaking her restraint. These abilities are demonstrated without a formal elemental mastery tier, named spear rank, or numbered God-existence stage, so descriptive feats should not be converted into additional advancement rows. (Chapters 216, 251–253, and 271–272)

Technique creation and trait alteration

Gaia is credited with Divine Transformation and numerous Association techniques. She can fuse the fragmented Mind Invasion trait permanently into Neo's Seed of Existence, and their long collaboration produces specialized mental and survival spells. Later characters use some of those methods in the main timeline, but their decisions are not Gaia's direct acts, and the techniques do not establish that she personally possesses every power expressed by their users. (Chapters 237, 290, 338, 378, 707, and 714)

Structural limits

Gaia's greatest limitation is the same bond that makes her Earth's guardian. She cannot freely leave the World Core or use her full rank without endangering populations, and hostile damage to the Core can incapacitate or kill her. World-Time regression can overwrite the resulting history, but Gaia does not control that spell alone and is killed after supplying its World Core connection. The exact mechanism that permits her later presence is never supplied. (Chapters 271, 281–282, 309–311, 326, 395, and 826)

Neo Hargraves

Gaia first knows Neo as an impossible gap in Fate, then spends decades with his Thanatos identity as client, collaborator, and friend. She repairs his fragmented trait and supplies World Core expertise; he protects her because her planetary duty makes ordinary self-defense difficult. Neo later carries memories of their erased histories and co-created techniques when the main timeline calls her dead. Their eventual reunion is genuine in the narrative even though its metaphysical mechanism remains unstated. (Chapters 216, 276–281, 290, 338, 395, 826, and 833)

Apollo

Apollo's apparent death is what pushes Gaia to break the restraint that hides her SSS-rank power. She defeats Perses and heals him, accepting global consequences because she believes one of the people under her protection has been killed. Apollo later participates in the D-Day effort around Gaia and Neo. The relationship demonstrates that her planetary calculation is not impersonal: particular lives can force her to reconsider what preservation demands. (Chapters 271–272 and 279–281)

Professor Daniel Caelum

Gaia works with Daniel only after his own failed choices and imprisonment have made him the unwilling carrier of the next regression. She helps connect the World-Time circle to Earth's Core and apologizes before he is sent back again. Daniel performs the regression and retains the accumulating burden; Gaia supplies the crucial planetary connection and dies in that rewritten history, so neither should be credited with performing the other's role. (Chapters 309–311, 326, and 329)

Kronos and Zeus

Kronos and Zeus protect and complete the temporal work while Gaia links it to the World Core. Their cooperation is an emergency alliance within one failed Shadow-Trial history, not evidence that Gaia independently commands World-Time or survives the casting. In the later restored years, Neo meets Gaia alongside Chronos, but the novel does not use that reunion to explain or retroactively merge the earlier trial histories. (Chapters 309–311 and 826)

Items

Gaia commonly carries a spear during Association operations, but the narrative does not give it a canonical artifact name or catalogued history. She also secures a Lightning Qilin heart for Neo's work; possession for that purpose does not make it her signature relic. Her World Core synchronization is a bond with planetary infrastructure rather than ownership of a portable item, and no item in the scoped catalog is established as Gaia's personal artifact.
