Aegis

History

Five shields become one artifact

Yu IlHan forged Aegis while processing dragon materials on Dareu. Five separate artifacts began shining together and completed themselves as a single Legend-ranked artifact. When he supplied mana, its five simple-looking shields moved through the air according to his will. Recognizing it as life-saving equipment, he initially stored it for the decisive stages of the dragon campaign rather than spending its protection casually. (Chapter 93)

A mobile defense and aerial foothold

Aegis became Yu IlHan’s most flexible defensive tool. He could spread the five shields across a wide area or stack them into five layers against a concentrated blow. Their autonomous movement let them cover companions, intercept traps and magic, and even serve as midair footholds for his Leap and Re-leap maneuvers. During his infiltration of Ferata, the shields screened him from explosions and powerful close-range attacks; later, they protected him inside a regenerating golem and carried him through aerial battles. (Chapters 132–137, 167–174)

Growth through battle and reforging

The artifact grew alongside its owner, reaching Epic rank by the time of Earth’s later crises. Yu IlHan subsequently coated and engraved the shields with an alloy and materials including fallen-angel feathers, dragon blood, and fourth-class magic stones. The upgrade allowed Aegis to absorb hostile mana, amplify it, and return it to the attacker. This turned the system from a purely physical barricade into an effective counter against higher existences. (Chapters 183, 195, 230)

Shield of the final war

Aegis remained part of Yu IlHan’s equipment through the conflict with Heaven. Even against Michael, it could meet a counterattack meant to deflect Yu IlHan’s spear, showing that the early Dareu artifact had continued to scale into battles between the cosmos’s highest powers. (Chapter 323)
