Reta Kar’iha

Reta Kar’iha is Dareu’s last elven hero and a deathgod whose campaign against the dragons continues after bodily death. She preserves thought and records in relics that Yu IlHan recovers, then guides his dragon hunt through the elven empire’s continental formation. Her aid ends in betrayal when she attempts to transfer her soul into his body and is destroyed by Orochi.

Biography

Daréu’s last hero

Reta fights for centuries after dragons destroy Dareu’s human and elven nations. Unable to win and fatally wounded, she becomes a Breaker as a last resort. Before losing herself completely, the deathgod divides traces of will among her robe, scythe, magic stone, and soul so that a compatible successor may inherit the unfinished purpose. (Chapters 47–52, 61–62)

IlHan kills her Breaker body in an Abandoned World connected to Earth. Mana Crafting with the recovered records produces a dragon-exterminating spear whose surprise-attack and deathgod effects align with his own path. Later, Death Collector develops enough for him to hear residual thoughts, allowing Reta’s clearer consciousness to speak. (Chapters 47–52, 61–62)

Reta explains Dareu’s fall and asks IlHan to exterminate the dragons. As the final recognized master of the elven empire’s absolute formation, she can help locate creatures across the continent and move him directly toward isolated targets. Her knowledge turns an occupied world into a viable hunting ground: IlHan can select opponents, prepare the correct equipment, and avoid being surrounded. (Chapters 62, 82–87)

The hunt also reveals surviving elves whom Reta believed extinct. Their existence gives her objective a possible future beyond revenge, but it also intensifies her conviction that Dareu must be rebuilt under a ruler carrying the old empire’s authority. Gratitude toward IlHan and the desire to use him become inseparable. (Chapters 86–95)

The soul-transfer betrayal

IlHan feeds Reta a portion of life force stored by Death Collector. Because she was a deathgod, the thought can consume it, becoming clearer and regaining limited power. Reta presents the growth as a way to help him, and much of that assistance is real. The same restored strength gives her enough agency to activate the formation’s forbidden function. (Chapters 82, 88–95)

Once IlHan meets his class-advancement requirements, Reta attempts soul transfer. She intends to seize his unusually powerful body, use the formation’s authority, rebuild Dareu, and rule in service of the people she lost. The motive grows from duty and grief, but the method requires destroying or displacing the person who fulfilled her revenge. (Chapter 95)

IlHan has anticipated that a centuries-old thought with a surviving nation might value its objective above its host. He prepares Orochi inside his soul space, and the stronger predatory fragment destroys Reta before the transfer completes. IlHan absorbs the remaining power and inherits Soul Enchant plus stronger authority over souls. (Chapters 95–96)

Later references concern that legacy, not a hidden survival of Reta’s identity. Her records continue through weapons, IlHan’s soul skills, the liberated elves, and the deathgod path, while the conscious thought that tried to take his body is gone. (Chapters 108, 129, 263)

Appearance and personality

Reta’s living form is identified as a woman and an elf, but the corpus gives no reliable detailed hair, eye, or body description. She uses a scythe and robe associated with the deathgod record. (Chapters 47–52, 62)

As a thought-soul she is intelligent, grief-driven, vengeful, responsible, and capable of playful conversation. She sincerely helps IlHan destroy the dragons and rejoices at evidence her people survived. Her betrayal shows the boundary of that warmth: restoration of Dareu and its elves remains more important to her than the life or consent of the successor she chose. (Chapters 62, 82–95)

Abilities and classes

Deathgod class and preserved thought

Reta’s deathgod path concerns life force, residual thought, surprise-oriented killing, and soul manipulation. Before becoming a Breaker, she embeds compatible records and fragments of will in a magic stone, robe, and scythe. This allows later Mana Crafting to draw out dragon-extermination and deathgod properties. (Chapters 47–52, 61–62)

The preserved thought can communicate only after IlHan’s Death Collector reaches the stage of hearing dead thoughts. She can consume a portion of stored life force because of her former class, restoring clarity and limited power. That recovery depends on IlHan’s accumulated resource and permission; Reta is not independently resurrected into a living body. (Chapters 61–62, 82)

Elven empire’s absolute formation

Reta remains the recognized master of the old empire’s world-spanning formation. Through it, she helps detect creatures across Dareu, identify isolated dragons, and teleport IlHan over long distances. The formation supplies surveillance and movement, while IlHan still performs reconnaissance at the destination, prepares equipment, and fights the target. (Chapters 62, 82–87)

The system is anchored to Dareu and the elven empire’s authority. It is not personal teleportation Reta demonstrates anywhere she chooses. Damage, interference, ownership conditions, and the caster’s remaining strength determine which functions are available. (Chapters 82–95)

Forbidden soul transfer

The formation contains a forbidden function capable of transferring a soul into another body. Restored by Death Collector’s life force and positioned as the formation’s master, Reta activates it against IlHan after the dragon-hunt conditions are met. Her target is attractive because his body, records, and authority offer the strength needed to rebuild the world. (Chapter 95)

The ritual is neither instant nor unstoppable. IlHan recognizes the risk, prepares Orochi within his soul, and allows Reta to expose the attempt. Orochi destroys the invading thought before possession completes. The failure establishes that soul-transfer authority must still overcome the host’s preparations and other resident wills. (Chapters 95–96)

Soul Enchant legacy

After Reta’s destruction, IlHan absorbs her remaining deathgod power and gains Soul Enchant. The skill later places compatible thought-souls into equipment and draws out the harmony between will and material. Reta supplies the record that enables the inheritance, but later artifacts are IlHan’s applications rather than actions performed by a surviving Reta. (Chapters 96, 108, 129, 263)
