Empyrean God Roughpeak — Desolate Era

Empyrean God Roughpeak is a Three Realms native imprisoned in Undermoon Lake, where repeated attacks by Snowfiend's clones drive him into reflexive paranoia. Ji Ning earns his trust, frees him with the lake's other survivors, and later mourns him among the Empyrean Gods killed in the Endwar.

Biography

Trapped on Volcano Island

Roughpeak reaches Volcano Island during his attempt to cross Undermoon Lake. The island is attacked every thousand years by a clone of Snowfiend, forcing its lone resident into an endless cycle of battle and recovery. Isolation alone would not break an Immortal or Fiendgod, but the recurring enemy teaches Roughpeak to strike at every approaching figure before confirming an identity. When Ji Ning arrives, Roughpeak attacks with both bladewheels and only stops after Ning identifies himself as another native of the Three Realms. (Chapters 626–628)

Ashamed of nearly killing an ally, Roughpeak explains the trap and refuses to follow Ning merely on faith. He sets a practical condition: if Ning can destroy Snowfiend's next clone with one blow, the display will prove he has enough power to lead Roughpeak onward. Ning studies the opponent, deliberately conditions it to his normal rhythm, and then uses a final layered attack to achieve the required victory. Roughpeak keeps his word and joins him. (Chapters 627–630)

The Undermoon Lake company

On later islands, Roughpeak becomes part of the growing company of stranded Empyrean Gods. Ning points him toward Snowfiend's wall carving so he can study the staff technique that tormented him rather than merely fear it. Roughpeak advises Ning about new-island calamities, watches his challenges, and shares the hope that Darknorth can finally clear the Path of Blades and release them all. (Chapters 631–646)

Ning succeeds. Roughpeak returns with more than two hundred survivors to the Deerchaser major world, stunned to see the Three Realms again after confinement. The rescue turns a traumatized solitary fighter back into a member of the Nuwa Alliance and gives the coming war a large body of unusually experienced Empyrean Gods. (Chapter 668)

Death in the Endwar

Roughpeak fights when the Endwar reaches its decisive stage. More than ten of the Empyrean Gods rescued from Undermoon Lake die in the battle, including Roughpeak and Buyou. Ning's private grief identifies Roughpeak among the friends he was especially close to, confirming the death in Chapter 735 even though the final blow is not separately narrated. (Chapter 735)

Appearance and personality

Roughpeak appears as an ashen-faced youth wielding paired bladewheels. At his introduction his eyes are bloodshot and berserk, an effect of prolonged vigilance rather than an innate love of murder.

Once he recognizes Ning, grief and shame replace aggression. Roughpeak is cautious enough to demand proof before trusting a prospective rescuer, honorable enough to follow after that proof, and generous enough to warn Ning about hazards on later islands. His arc shows trauma being redirected into cooperation rather than simply disappearing.

Abilities and cultivation

Empyrean God body

Roughpeak is an Empyrean God, giving him a powerful Fiendgod body, divine power, long life, and close-combat strength far above ordinary Immortals. He survives repeated millennial attacks on Volcano Island, which demonstrates endurance and recovery under recurring lethal pressure. The corpus does not identify a later True God breakthrough. Paired bladewheels

Roughpeak fights with two circular bladewheels and can launch immediate killing blows at an approaching target. Their shape supports cutting attacks from multiple angles, while his first exchange shows enough speed and force that Ning chooses to block and explain rather than ignore him. No named bladewheel art or special treasure grade is provided, so their mechanics should not be extended beyond the demonstrated paired close-combat use. (Chapter 626)

Combat perception and learned caution

Years of Snowfiend attacks sharpen Roughpeak's threat response but also corrupt it into overreaction. After joining Ning, he applies the same experience more constructively by explaining the clone cycle, island rules, and dangers ahead. This knowledge helps Ning plan his challenges, but Roughpeak himself lacks the overwhelming one-strike power required to escape Volcano Island before Darknorth arrives. (Chapters 627–636)

Wall-carving study

The Volcano Island stele records Snowfiend's staff technique in detail. Ning directs Roughpeak to study it after the clone is defeated, allowing him to turn repeated observation of an enemy into formal Dao comprehension. The text shows his interest and access, but not a completed named breakthrough from the carving. (Chapter 632)
