Daolord Kongsan

Daolord Kongsan is a Verge-level, second-tier Daolord whose darkness-incarnate body makes him exceptionally difficult to kill. A selfish core member of the Dao Alliance, he pursues Ji Ning over a slain disciple and dies only when Ning expends a Hegemon-level sword seal.

Biography

Vendetta at Skywood City

Kongsan appears after Ning kills a Third Step disciple who attempted an ambush outside Plumesoar Hall. He accepts that the disciple started the fight and that Ning's counterattack was normal, but announces that personal dignity still requires revenge. Because the Dao Alliance forbids violence inside Sacred City estates, Kongsan waits outside and promises to kill Ning whenever he leaves. (Chapter 1013)

An intelligence report identifies Kongsan as an independent, sectless Verge-level Daolord who has killed at least sixteen Fourth Step Daolords. He is weaker in direct attack than the supreme Palace Lord Dawnstar, yet even Dawnstar would struggle to kill him because darkness incarnation, spatial control, and speed let him survive or disengage. Ning spends the delay completing the nine novessence arts and acquiring a vessel faster than Kongsan's known movement. (Chapters 1013–1015)

Pursuit and loss of his disciple

Kongsan establishes a grand sealing formation outside the city and pursues Ning together with his eldest disciple. The disciple's long rope treasures narrow Ning's escape routes while Kongsan approaches as black mist, but Ning's new sword domain overwhelms and captures her. When Ning offers her life in exchange for withdrawal, Kongsan refuses, stating that no one can threaten him. His grievance is therefore exposed as pride rather than care for either disciple. (Chapters 1016–1017)

Kongsan's scimitar parts the novessence streams and his darkness body survives their omnidirectional grinding, but the domain continually suppresses him while Ning's faster vessel preserves distance. Kongsan condenses for a supreme scimitar strike whose killing intent attacks the soul, yet Ning's unusually strong soul remains unaffected. Unable to force close combat, Kongsan recognizes that the young opponent may have a powerful legacy and revises his plan from immediate execution to capture and ransom. (Chapters 1017–1018)

Alliance with Shaka and death

Kongsan asks Daolord Shaka, the fastest nearby ancient Daolord, to enter the sealed region. He accurately describes Ning's abilities and suggests capturing him first, releasing him for a price if a powerful backer appears. Brightshore allies Soleman and Skyaxe arrive but cannot quickly break Kongsan's prepared formation, leaving Ning between Shaka's speed and Kongsan's pursuit. (Chapters 1018–1019)

Ning crushes a leaf-shaped Dao-seal containing a full strike from the deceased Sword Hegemon. Shaka escapes with an ancient single-use treasure. Kongsan breaks two defenses—one tries unsuccessfully to redirect the attack through spacetime, while the other creates a water globe—and transforms into darkness inside them. The Hegemon sword halts spacetime, shatters the globe, and erases every part of the darkness body. Ning recovers only the tougher remnants of Kongsan's estate-treasures. (Chapter 1020)

Kongsan's death becomes the event that establishes Ning as a notable Daolord beyond his own organizations. Later comparisons continue using Kongsan as the benchmark for a second-tier cultivator with outstanding survival ability. (Chapters 1021–1022, 1075, 1081, and 1109)

Appearance and personality

Kongsan appears as a red-haired, red-eyed man in beautiful black robes, surrounded by evil murderous intent. He is calm, dominant, and intensely selfish. He can recognize Ning's talent and potential backing, but every reassessment is directed toward profit or face: disciples are expendable, ransom is preferable to unnecessary risk, and perceived disrespect justifies lethal pursuit. Abilities and cultivation

Verge-level, second-tier power

Kongsan is a Verge-level Daolord of the Fourth Step placed in the second tier of Endless Territories combat power. He is dangerous in close combat and has enough experience to kill numerous ordinary Fourth Step peers. Supreme first-tier Daolords can beat him, but his survival system makes finishing him much harder than winning an exchange. (Chapters 1014 and 1109)

Darkness-incarnate body

Kongsan can dissolve his solid body into an expanse of living darkness or black mist. Attacks pass through or disperse portions that then re-form, making him nearly invulnerable to opponents on his general level. The form also integrates with spatial movement and helps him flee at thirty-six times light speed. It has a power ceiling: a Hegemon strike that suppresses spacetime and destroys the entire affected darkness at once leaves nothing from which to reassemble. Darkness domain and spatial movement

His darkness-based secret arts spread black mist that suppresses opponents, conceals his true form, and supports both pursuit and escape. Control over darkness gives him unusually strong interaction with space, including rapid teleportation and high-speed movement. Ning's nine novessence arts are stronger and omnipresent enough to penetrate and restrain the mist, but they still cannot seriously injure the incarnate body at Ning's stage. Scimitar arts

Kongsan wields a huge pitch-black scimitar in close combat. Its edge concentrates force so cleanly that it parts space and splits Ning's formless novessence streams without wasting power. His supreme chop freezes local spacetime and projects killing intent directly against the soul, confusing ordinary Fourth Step Daolords before physical contact. The soul component is disruptive rather than annihilating and fails against Ning's Fourth-Step-level soul and near-Heartforce-Cultivator defenses. (Chapters 1017–1018)

Sealing formations

Before the pursuit Kongsan prepares a grand formation that seals the battlefield and withstands attacks from outside, preventing allies from immediately reaching Ning. The setup gives Kongsan time to chase and call Shaka, but it is fixed infrastructure rather than part of his darkness body. The Sword Hegemon's attack cuts through it after killing him. (Chapters 1016 and 1019–1020)

Emergency treasures

At death Kongsan uses one treasure to alter local spacetime and redirect the incoming sword, then another to surround himself with a giant water globe. Both are single-use defenses and activate before impact, yet neither operates at Hegemon scale. The sword nullifies the redirection and shatters the globe together with the darkness inside. (Chapter 1020)

Relationships

• Ji Ning: Kongsan's intended victim after a disciple's failed ambush. Ning cannot kill him with current personal arts but survives long enough to use a Hegemon seal that bypasses darkness incarnation. (Chapters 1013–1020)
• Daolord Shaka: The faster ancient Daolord Kongsan recruits when solo pursuit fails. Shaka escapes the Hegemon strike that kills Kongsan. (Chapters 1018–1020)
