Rayna's Special Boots

Rayna's Special Boots are unnamed enchanted footwear that prevent external force from throwing her backward. They let a spear fighter who depends on stance and reach hold position against opponents whose raw power or magic would otherwise break her formation.

History

Holding the line

Rayna uses the boots while defending against Umonke, allowing her to keep blocking despite the superior warrior's repeated force. They later anchor her against Garlon's invisible spatial and wind explosions and against Heino's attacks, preserving the stable footing needed to keep her spear between an enemy and her allies. (Chapters 864, 1147, and 1244)

In Alterian, Noble mages try to blow Rayna away with concentrated wind. The boots again hold her in place while the coalition closes on a mobile tower. The effect remains available late in the campaign, and no transfer or destruction is shown. (Chapter 1723)

Abilities and properties

• Prevents the wearer from being knocked backward by physical or magical force. (Chapters 864, 1147, 1244, and 1723)
• Stabilizes Rayna's stance but does not stop force from injuring her or exhausting her arms and Qi. (Chapter 864)
• Does not teleport or displace the wearer; its demonstrated function is anchoring. (Chapters 1147 and 1723)
