Nabi
Nabi Highborn is one of the Dawnblade Clan's ten elders and a hidden Alterian mage who has also reached a high level of Pagna cultivation. He leads the Light Faction's punitive response after Beatrix's defeat and is killed by the combined Crimson Crane.
Biography
Retaliation at the pyramid
Internal pressure after the Dawnblade Clan's humiliation leads it to send Nabi into Demonic territory as an overwhelming answer. He defeats or restrains local opposition and dominates Reno, Raze, and their stone construct through superior swordsmanship. The arrival of Alba and the Crimson Crane turns the duel into a group assault, but Nabi's mixed training lets him paralyze almost everyone with Lightning Magic and continue resisting after severe wounds. (Chapters 204–209)
Exposure and death
Raze recognizes Nabi's spellcasting, resists the paralysis with an enchanted pill, and exposes that both men are three-star mages. Nabi remains the stronger Pagna warrior but cannot use mana and Qi simultaneously, creating openings whenever he casts. Raze exploits that limitation with a one-use cursed ice enchantment placed on Cronker's sword; the spreading ice forces Nabi to drop his Qi defense, and the Crimson Crane pierce him from several directions. Nabi dies acknowledging that he never expected to meet another mage there, leaving his origin, mission, and reference to someone he “failed” unresolved. (Chapters 209–211)
Appearance and personality
Nabi is an older man wearing light-colored Dawnblade clothing with golden trim. He is proud, mocking, and convinced of the Light Faction's honor even while participating in an overwhelming punitive expedition. His confidence is supported by real skill, yet discovery of Raze's hybrid fighting style produces curiosity and alarm.
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
As a high-ranking middle-stage Pagna warrior, Nabi extends Qi beyond his sword, creates long cutting lines, projects crescent-like defenses, and maintains passive reinforcement strong enough to stop arrows from penetrating. His clothes can glow and disperse weaker visual Qi, though the text does not cleanly establish whether this is a garment property or technique.
Nabi is separately a three-star Lightning mage. Paralyzing Shock spreads through the ground in a wide area, while Lightning Strike, a lightning wall, and other bolts provide range. Dark Magic has an elemental advantage over his lightning. Most importantly, Nabi cannot actively control mana and Qi together: casting makes him stationary or deprives his weapon and body of Qi reinforcement, a limitation that directly enables his death.
