Ring of Agaroth

The Ring of Agaroth is an ancient divine artifact once associated with Agaroth, the God of War, and later contracted to Eugene Lionheart. It protects its wearer from lethal harm, accelerates regeneration at a cost to future vitality, and amplifies Eugene's mana and divine power. (Chapters 178, 190, and 350)

History

From a dragon hoard to Eugene

Ariartelle recovered the ring from the dormant dragons' accumulated property, after it had lain in an unnamed dragon's hoard. The golden ring was black on its inner surface and packed with minute ancient formulas. When offered to Eugene, it placed itself on his left ring finger, drew his blood, resized to fit, and formed a contract with him. Ariartelle identified it as an artifact of the ancient God of War, Agaroth. (Chapter 178)

The ring's power became overt when it reacted to Eugene's mana and strengthened it with divine force. Its energy blended with his Lightning Flame Formula and the Holy Sword, and it repeatedly intervened when his body was torn apart in battle. It restored a ruined arm, helped sustain him through Ignition and other extreme techniques, and amplified the Holy Sword beyond his immediate expectations. (Chapters 190, 194, 238, and 263)

Revelation of Agaroth's legacy

The artifact did more than heal. It sometimes activated independently and connected Eugene to visions or memories whose meaning was initially uncertain. Later revelations established Eugene as Agaroth's reincarnation, reframing the ring's unusually responsive behavior as a surviving link to his former divinity rather than a chance compatibility with an unrelated relic. The ring remained with Eugene into the final campaigns. No break in its contract, destruction, or transfer to another wearer is recorded within the covered chapters. (Chapter 581)

Abilities and properties

• The ring erects an invisible barrier against lethal danger, but the protection is not absolute and cannot prevent every injury. (Chapter 178)
• It can force the wearer's regeneration to its maximum and repair otherwise fatal damage. The healing spends future vitality or lifespan, and Eugene can choose whether to accept that cost. (Chapters 178, 194, and 350)
• A severe restoration can exhaust the ring's immediate capacity. Consecutive activation requires time for vitality to recover, and combining its healing with Ignition risks accelerating the wearer's self-destruction. (Chapter 178)
• It amplifies Eugene's mana and holy power and can resonate with the Holy Sword. Some activations occur on the ring's own initiative rather than through a deliberate command. (Chapters 190, 238, and 350)
• Its blood contract resizes the artifact to its wearer and binds it directly to Eugene. The visions associated with that bond initially conveyed information without a complete explanation, making their early interpretation uncertain. (Chapters 178 and 352)
