Demon Spear Luentos

The Demon Spear Luentos is the former weapon of the Demon King of Cruelty. After passing through Vermouth Lionheart's legacy and the Lionheart clan, it became one of Eugene Lionheart's principal captured relics and eventually a component of Levantein. (Chapters 19, 149, and 532–533)

History

From Cruelty to the Lionhearts

Luentos originally belonged to the Demon King of Cruelty. Vermouth took the spear after defeating that Demon King, but the demonic force within it was so severe that later accounts held Vermouth to be the only hero capable of using it safely. The spear eventually entered Lionheart custody and was entrusted to Doynes Lionheart at Black Lion Castle. (Chapters 19 and 75)

Dominic Lionheart stole Luentos during his attack on Doynes. He even used Doynes's severed arm to force one activation of Spear Forest, after which Dominic and the remnant of the Demon King of Cruelty wielded it directly against Eugene. The remnant could guide and partially override its host, making the spear part of the battle for Dominic's body as well as a weapon in it. (Chapters 143–146)

Eugene's reclamation

After Dominic's defeat, Eugene claimed Luentos and the Annihilation Hammer. The Holy Sword and Moonlight Sword erased the demonic power and residual wills in both relics, leaving their embedded formulas intact but apparently unusable. Eugene then repeatedly flooded Luentos with the Lightning Flame Formula and the power of the World Tree spirits. The process nearly emptied his mana, cracked the weapon, and caused small explosions before the spear finally accepted and synchronized with his power. (Chapters 149 and 157)

The restored Spear Forest was initially smaller and less controllable than the original technique, but its performance grew with Eugene. In later battles he created hundreds or thousands of living black thorns at chosen spatial coordinates, and could throw the spear through space without first assuming a conventional stance. (Chapters 157, 263–264, and 369)

Reforging as Levantein

Eugene ultimately shattered Luentos together with the Annihilation Hammer, Holy Sword, and Moonlight Sword. Their fragments and powers were fused into Levantein. Luentos ceased to exist as a separate spear, but Levantein retained its spatially deployed forest as a wall or field of flames. (Chapters 532–533 and 557)

Abilities and properties

  • Spear Forest turns the surrounding battlefield into an array of spears or thorns. In its mature form, the technique places hundreds or thousands of attacks at specified coordinates in space, making ordinary positional defense difficult. (Chapters 143–146 and 263–264)
  • Each summoned thorn carries the offensive character of Luentos itself rather than functioning as a harmless projection. Eugene later combined the forest with his flames and could activate it through a spatially thrown spear. (Chapters 264 and 369)
  • The relic's original demonic power and controlling remnant were dangerous to its wielder. They were purged before Eugene established a new connection through the Lightning Flame Formula. (Chapters 146, 149, and 157)
  • Its technique was fused into the weapon's construction and could not simply be extracted as a separate spell. Rebinding it required enormous mana, repeated attempts, and enough strain to damage both the spear and Eugene's reserves. (Chapter 157)
  • After its destruction as an independent weapon, the defining forest remained reproducible through Levantein in a transformed, flame-based form. (Chapters 533 and 557)
