Wei Shi Jaran
Wei Shi Jaran is a recurring character or sentient entity in Cradle. Injured former prodigy whose harsh judgment of Lindon is punctuated by rare pride and direct defense of family honor.
Biography
Crippled tiger
Former promising warrior left disabled by an earlier Festival. The governing motive is to preserve family honor and see strength recognized in his children. Acting on that priority, the character argues over the fruit, defends Lindon from Mon Keth, praises Lindon's brave gamble, and supports both children at the Festival. The resulting choices connect the character to the phase's central relationships and pressures, including chronic injury, stalled advancement, wounded pride, and Lindon's weakness. Books 9–12
Hiding with family after Heaven's Glory destroys their home. The governing motive is to protect family while preserving his sense of competence. Acting on that priority, the character evacuates; questions Lindon's advancement; defends home under Silent King attack; later supports rebuilt Sacred Valley. The resulting choices connect the character to the phase's central relationships and pressures, including pride and inability to accept Lindon's transformation. (Chapters 179–200, 223, 237, 276)
Appearance and personality
Scar at his lip leaves a permanent smirk; old combat injury causes a limp and reliance on a cane. Proud, bitter about lost potential, blunt and often cruel, but strategically minded, courageous, and capable of fierce affection. Formerly scarred and lame; blunt, proud, skeptical, and later chastened.

Iron sacred artist
Uses an Iron body and Wei sacred arts; formerly a formidable fighter. Uses include moves quickly despite cane and confronts Mon Keth to defend Lindon. Limits include permanent leg injury and stalled cultivation restrict current combat. (Chapters 2; 4; 5; 7)
Spear fighting
Traditional Wei combat skill; low advancement limits effect against later threats. (Chapters 237)
