Wei First Elder

Wei First Elder is a recurring character or sentient entity in Cradle. Tests Lindon, brands him Unsouled, judges clan disputes, punishes cowardice, protects Jaran, and demonstrates high-level White Fox illusions.

Biography

Keeper of Wei order

Senior elder administering tests and disputes. The governing motive is to preserve clan hierarchy, courage, and public order. Acting on that priority, the character creates Lindon's empty badge, punishes Teris, negotiates Lindon's duel, stops Keth, and promises Lindon a Path manual for Festival performance. The resulting choices connect the character to the phase's central relationships and pressures, including competing family honor and Lindon's refusal to accept assigned limits. Appearance and personality

Thin and straight with floor-length wispy beard and extremely long eyebrows. Severe, tradition-bound, politically shrewd, controlled, and capable of impartial judgment within the clan's harsh assumptions.

Path of the White Fox

Master-level dream-and-light illusion, including layered false positions and Forged restraints. Uses include switches perceived positions to intercept Keth and subdues him without visible effort. Limits include forged images lack physical substance; effectiveness depends on deception. (Chapters 4; 5)
