Elder Whitehall

Elder Whitehall is a recurring character or sentient entity in Cradle. Child-bodied Jade elder who inducts and abuses Lindon while scheming to steal the Sword Sage's refining treasures and restore his body.

Biography

Failed rejuvenation and the Sword Sage's treasure

Jade refiner trapped in a child's body and humiliated by the result. The governing motive is to use the Sword Sage's superior ingredients to restore himself and gain status. Acting on that priority, the character abuses Lindon, pushes the elders to hunt Yerin, follows her to the tomb, attacks Lindon with invasive madra, and bargains when cornered. The resulting choices connect the character to the phase's central relationships and pressures, including yerin's strength, Lindon's preparation, and his own child-sized body. (Chapters 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)

Appearance and personality

Adult mind in an approximately eight-year-old body after a failed youth-restoring elixir; white-and-gold robes and Jade badge. Proud, resentful, greedy, manipulative, insecure about his body, and willing to murder disciples for treasure.

Heaven's Glory light Path

Jade light madra produces heated golden beams and reinforces body and voice. Uses include pursuit, combat with Yerin, and invasive core attack on Lindon. Limits include small body has poor endurance and is vulnerable to physical force once spirit is disrupted. (Chapters 13; 17; 18; 19; 20)

Refining

Creates elixirs from sacred herbs and seeks superior ingredients. Uses include maintains apparent youth and motivates his treasure hunt. Limits include his rejuvenation elixir only partially works, leaving him child-bodied. (Chapters 13)
