Rodney

Rodney is a human soldier whose panic during the Nitis crisis destroys his early career and begins a long, morally compromised attempt to regain status. He opposes Khan over humanity's interests, yet repeatedly becomes useful to him: first as a criminal contact, later as a Global Army intermediary, and finally as a General willing to risk his life against the Scarlet Eyes.

Biography

Nitis training and disgrace

Rodney arrives at the Nitis academy as an observant, politically minded recruit. Professor Supyan's lake reads him as “sly” and “unpredictable,” while his classroom results show genuine aptitude for mana sensitivity and control. He keeps humans' strategic interests foremost, sometimes needling Khan over his closeness to the Niqols, but he also recognizes that Niqols emotion and behavior may be central to their understanding of mana. During the daylight crisis, a monster hypnotizes Rodney into killing his Niqols teammate Eset. Khan initially treats him as another victim, but Rodney panics after they escape: he pushes Asyat toward danger and then tries to present himself as the rescuer. Khan exposes the lie, beats him unconscious, and reports the full event. Exile and Milia 222

As a recruit, Rodney is of average height with short dark hair, brown eyes, no beard, and a firm but less muscular build than Khan or Brandon.
