Whisker's Guidance Sphere

Whisker's Guidance Sphere is a small metallic artifact programmed to lead Atticus to the Shifting Spire and deliver Whisker's instructions once he arrives. Its delayed purpose reflects Whisker's usual method: he gives Atticus a tool before explaining the danger or opportunity toward which it points.

History

Gift and delayed activation

Whisker tosses the sphere to Atticus without a complete explanation. It remains with Atticus until later activation produces a holographic directional marker. This converts an opaque gift into a locator, while Ozeroth helps Atticus interpret the destination without ever taking custody of the artifact. (Chapters 800 and 884)

Guidance to the Shifting Spire

Following the marker leads Atticus to a buried circular stone entrance. Once he enters, the sphere plays Whisker's prerecorded message during the trial, confirming that its purpose includes both navigation and timed instruction. The corpus does not state whether the sphere is recovered, reused, consumed by activation, or discarded afterward. (Chapters 884–890)

Abilities and properties

  • Projects a holographic directional marker that guides its user toward a programmed destination. (Chapter 884)
  • Stores and plays a prerecorded message when the relevant stage of the Shifting Spire trial is reached. (Chapter 890)
  • Does not independently complete the trial or grant its reward; Atticus must follow the route and face the challenge himself. (Chapters 884–890)
  • Its operating range, power source, and ability to be reprogrammed are not established in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 800 and 884–890)
