Zekaron

Zekaron is a bone-race prince whose superior rank and wrist scythes make him Atticus's first major enemy during the foreign-city escape. His decision to pursue and kill Atticus creates the grievance Spineus later inherits.

Biography

Pursuit and death

Zekaron catches Atticus and opens a deep slash from shoulder to chest with a bone scythe, expecting the weaker human to recognize the gap between them. Atticus instead laughs, uses dirty distractions, studies the prince's movements, and refuses the honorable exchange Zekaron anticipates. The mismatch between rank and composure leaves Zekaron increasingly baffled as his advantage fails to produce surrender. (Chapters 445–453)

Atticus ultimately kills Zekaron and escapes with material taken from the battlefield. Bone-race accounts turn the loss into a public benchmark—Spineus is advertised as able to defeat the same human—and the Ossara family organizes a pursuit in the prince's name. Atticus later rejects their revenge narrative because Zekaron initiated the lethal confrontation. (Chapters 453–507)

Appearance and personality

Zekaron manifests razor-sharp bone scythes from his wrists and initially wears a confident smile. He is proud, rank-conscious, committed to direct martial dominance, and easily confused by an opponent who uses deception without shame.

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Zekaron is an Advanced-rank bone fighter whose wrist protrusions function as natural scythes capable of carving a severe torso wound. He can sharpen them further and move fast enough to pressure a lower-ranked Atticus. Sand, blood, misdirection, and Atticus's adaptive speed undermine the prince's reading of the fight; no domain or later progression is shown before his death. (Chapters 445–453)
